Used sparingly, this can accent almost everything.

Things would taste pretty bland without it but my motto is a little dab will do ya. Kosher salt is awesome rolled on the outside of baked potatos though.

too much salt is bad for your health. It gives high blood pressure...plus when something is too salted tastes horrible

Actually, salt isn't a spice. It's a seasoning. It's the #1 ingredient for a cook to have, but just like everything, you can have too much.

Salt, in whatever form, is an absolut must! It doesn't say "salt & pepper" in recepies for nothing.

My name is CastleBee (no, not really) and I am a salt-o-holic (yes, really). Due to some health problems, I have sworn off the stuff these days in an effort to recover and improve my overall diet but not very long ago I was a maniac with the salt shaker. Funny thing, though I know I still prefer a salty to sweet taste in food yet, doing without large daily doses of salt I have finally gotten to a point where I don't crave it as much. This has made it easier to change my evil ways and keep my hands off the shaker. So, my new philosophy with salt is - a little is still good but much less is best.
