I used to work there. A few interesting restaraunts, most of them way overpriced. Didn't spend much more time in the financial district than I had to.

I heard about San Francisco before I moved here, about how it's the Wall Street of the West. It's a tame version, but it's as close as you'll get on the west coast. It is a tad surreal and out of place but people get into it like anywhere else. My guess is that these cats don't stray far from the tree - they live, work and party in the Financial District or North Beach. Not once have I met someone who works there anyplace else.

Walking through SF's financial district, you get the sense that you are walking through a pseudo Epcot center version of a financial district. Yes the highrises are impressive, and yes there are plenty of people scurrying around in suits, but it just doesn't feel REAL. It's like the city's planners thought that every city needs a financial district, so SF should have one too... what I can't figure out is who those people are that work in this district, and where do they go at night?
