This film has resulted in numerous films, TV movies, and TV series and none as good as the original.

I think for a remake / reboot of this to be successful they'd have to produce a film which is both reminiscent of Paul Verhoeven's original, yet still cover new territory. I think it's best chance in modern cinema would be to take a grittier, darker stance like the Nolan Batman movies. It might be predictable to do that, but I think it would actually work.

I never really cared for RoboCop. I had the video game for Nintendo and even that was horrible. But I really respect RobCop in that he is more effective than most real police forces.

This one could make some money. Take away any charm, acting ability, or personality, give Al Gore the lead, and call it "Envirocop".
Leftists would line up at the theaters coast to coast.
