OK this could work but it would take an amazing performance by Matthew Broderick. He's just not anything close to a Ferris Bueller in real life.

No. Some things you just don't mess with. Even if they had done a sequel 20 years ago it probably would have fallen short of the original. Coming out with one now reeks of squeezing another nickle out of something popular. Plus it falls in line with dragging out old tv guides and movie posters in place of originality.

I think of this as a minor cult classic…probably only because it is still on my own re-watchable list. Yet, I highly question the need for or appeal of a sequel. Who really wants to see Ferris at 40 going through a mid-life crisis, attending his 25th high school reunion, or dealing with his own renegade smart ass teenager? Not me. And, you’d think that the way the viewing public turned away in droves from the (thankfully) short lived TV series would at least lend a clue to any goof ball interested in tossing money at this too little too late idea. Short-sighted, stupid or simply the desperation of people who lack the ability to produce an original thought? I say all of the above.

Liked the original Ferris. although a tiny bit curious what Ferris may be like as a 40 year old. not anywhere near enough to make a movie out of it. if Matthew B. gets an offer I hope he says not interested.just do not think it would be very good.

This will not end well.

The original has not stood the test of time. I really can't call it a cult classic. Imagine what a stinker the sequel will be.

Remakes often tend to suck, even when the original was a masterpiece. In this case, we're talking of a silly comedy that was worth seeing once, even back in the 80's.I say let sleeping dogs lie here.

I had no idea they were planning on producing a sequel to this cult film from the 80's. Whilst the TV series spin-off was short-lived I hope in some ways that this film doesn't get that far and stays in "development hell".Despite my initial thoughts that this would be bad, it could work if they did it right. The problem I see is with the story - they're in danger of repeating themselves, yet they're also changing it from Ferris helping someone else during that day (without them realising it to start with) to Ferris "helping" himself through what sounds like it might be a mid-life crisis. Is that what we want to see out of a Ferris Bueller sequel? I don't know.
