Being generous with 4 stars, which I will give because of Bette Davis. Ms. Davis was and remains one of the greatest talents ever to grace the silver screen. Joan Crawford on the other hand was a sopa opera caliber actress. A creepy story.

Don't let the anger induced negativity from her daughter's (B.D. Hyman) book be a majority factor in your opinion of Bette Davis.  B.D. claims that her mother lived in a fantasy world of her own design, well thats exactly what she herself has done with her own take on Christianity and fear tactics of the end time.  Mrs. Hyman claims to talk to God on a regular basis and says she knows so much that if she were to tell a person whom isnt as educated in the Word like her they would think she is crazy...she certainly isn't off to a good start there.  She also pronounces God has called her to teach God's starving lambs, I seem to remember Jesus saying in Matthew 23:8-10 "But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren...And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ."  Sure thats God your talking to there B.D.?  Did Jesus tell you to write a book of fiction, defacing mother with anger and resentment to get a quick lump sum of money b/c she was going to die soon and neither you nor your husband wanted to get a real job and actually work for money?

Over the top, scenery chewing fun with two of the best scenery chewers in Hollywood history.

Its not that good of a movie, but it is entertaining in a kind of sick way.

And as edt4 says, "rat for dinner" is a particularly special scene.

I don't know if you could truly regard this as a classic in the purest sense of the word, but it is a tremendous amount of fun. Great to watch veteran Hollywood adversaries Crawford and Davis compete in seeing who can chew up the most scenery. Davis wins, hands down, but Crawford has her moments. The "rat for dinner" scene still chills me every time I see it.

They did their job so well, I could never look at either actress the same again. Both these women freaked me out.

This 1962 film has been a cult classic for years- but it is also an excellent horror film as well. Davis and Crawford give credible, ghoulish and excellent performances. At times Davis' outfits, horrible pancake makeup and voice are very disturbing and sick- but also brilliant at the same time. Crawford is A sad and washed up former movie queen in a wheel chair (because Davis, her sister ran over her) who is dependent on Davis who is abusive, mentally ill and a alcoholic. A sad and most disturbing film about the decline of two women who live a reclusive bizarre life in Hollywood. Victor Buono also puts in an interesting and quirky performance as well. Filmed in stark Black and white.

I found this movie very disturbing and unusual. One minute it seems like you know what will happen next, but you find out your'e wrong. The ending is very surprising. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford are fascinating, and prove they still had what it takes to tell a good story. This movie should be watched, and please leave your thoughts about it here.

In the horror film genre, this is a reigning champ. I have never been a fan of the so called "slasher" movies, that contain no psychological angst, but rather the anticipation of the girl to fall in the forest ( which she always does ) and gets, well you know.... In what ever happened to Baby Jane, we see two dynamic legendary actresses displaying the best there is in this genre. Of couse the feuding between them in real life, only enhances the fire, this film is extremely well thought out, and the performances by these two ladies is fantastic. Bette Davis' face alone could scare the h**l out of anyone, and Joan is wonderful as always as the tormented bedridden sister. Through a collection of horrible circumstances, we are ultimately lead to an ending that makes us all contemplate "what will happen now?" and I personally love that aspect of filmaking. I don't always like to be told what to think, or to be given a nice neat little package to feel comfortable with. Extremely disturbing ( and Bette Davis singing only inhances this ) I would recommend this movie to any film lover, 5 stars to two iconic stars, who's light still shines just as brightley as ever!

well done movie with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Baby Jane is a former child star. she is much older now and has to take care of her invalid sister. Baby Jane is slowly loosing her mind and taking it out on her sister. she does some awful scarey stuff to her like serving her a dead rat for dinner.Bette Davis must of had ball playing the scarey wacko sister. From what I have heard Bette Davis and Joan Crawford actually despised one another, so the working conditions must have been interesting.pretty good movie though.

Classic Bette Davis.This was made when writers could write,and well before special effects,gratuitous violence and over the top tittilation ruined movies for the intelligent.

What's not to like about Bette Davis chewing up scenery and making Joan Crawford miserable? Fantastic movie. Great performances by all concerned.

This movie is actually scarier than the horror films of today, which have a lot more graphic and gratuitous violence. Bette Davis is terrifying as the vicious caretaker of her invalid sister-the scene where she serves her sister a dinner of cooked parakeets(her sister's pets) is frighening and horrifying indeed. Bette Davis chews up the scenery as the loony-toons sister, who despises her sibling. Joan Crawford (of wire-hanger fame) also does a decent job as the mild, long-suffering sister.

A little bit weird, this movie. Who would have thought that Joan Crawford would play the normal sister while Bette Davis plays the psycho? Anyway, the scene where Davis tells Crawford they have rats in the cellar, and then she serves her dinner...I'll let you figure out the rest.

Kind of interesting...and very bizzare.

One of the most well acted movies to ever be produced. Joan Crawford is fantastic in her role as the persecuted wheel chair ridden sister. Victor Buono is magnificent in his role of piano playing lover. But one of the best roles in all of screen hostiry is portrayed by Bette Davis as the psychopathic fiend who is slowly going insane and returning to her childhood. You won't turn it off once it is on. Definitely see this chiller classic.

What Ever Happened To Baby Jane may sound like a pretty lousy movie, but it is in fact an extremly chilling and scary movie. The film is about a young woman who is being stalked by her evil sister. The movie keeps gettings scarier right from the start, and you keep wondering what her sister is going to do next.

Pretty good movie. I've seen it a few times over the years.
