The guy had talent, but in my opinion, in the broad field of r&b and soul, he wasn't close to a James Brown, a Jackie Wilson, a Marvin Gaye,a Stevie Wonder, or a Otis Redding...to say nothing of the combination of Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Shakespeare, Lincoln, and Confucius that some hysterically overwrought commentators are viewing him as.
