I know that some might consider Shirley Temple sappy, but as far as her films go, the highlight of them was her dancing. Obviously acting is not what Shirley Temple really wanted to do anyway, but from what I've read, she went into politics, and even served as ambassador of Ghana.

I loved watching her films when I was growing up. It didn't really hit me until I was much older and had some idea of what went into becoming a dancer how truly phenomenal she really was though. As I watch her hoofing it with the excellent adult performers she so often danced with - matching them step for step - I can't even imagine a child her age with that kind of ability. She was amazing.
