Fonda is a talented and under-rated actor, but I have considerable fondness for Stewart's film collaborations with Hitchcock (especially Rear Window and Vertigo) so he gets the nod from me.

For 'Harvey' alone, I'm going w/Jimmy Stewart. I like the idea of a 6'5 invisible rabbit.

If I had to guess, I'd say that a large percentage of people in my generation (upper 20s, lower 30s) probably don't even know who Henry Fonda IS, much less be able to say that he would outrank Jimmy Stewart. But just about everyone knows who Jimmy Stewart is. It looks like Stewart will stand the test of time, while Fonda will end up being a mere footnote in the history of film. But then, who knows. Maybe kids who are now in high school or college won't end up knowing who either of them are.

Fonda.For "12 Angry Men" alone. . .

Have to go with Stewart on this one.

Fonda was a fantastic actor, but I'd have to go with Jimmy Stewart overall- in part because of his refusal to sell out.

Jimmy Stewart in a runaway. While I really like Henry Fonda as an actor, he loses points for spawning that reprobate!

The Everyman vs. the Best in Us. George Bailey vs. Tom Joad. Too close to call.
