There's advantages to both.Frinstince, I feel safe from sharks up in the mountains and my mind is free from the fear of cougar attacks while I'm snorkeling...

I may consider having a mountain vacation when I get my private helicopter to land on top of it.

I can't even begin to choose because I like them both. I'll say this: If I want peace, I would go to the mountains. If I was feeling a little more sociable, it would be to the beach.

Tough call and it depends on location.Inside the USA- I'll take the mountains. American beaches (as a whole) tend to be trashy and crowded. Spare me your e-mails about nice American beaches - I said "as a WHOLE". . .I'm aware there are a few nice beaches here. But overseas, I've experienced more beauty, cleaner areas, and far less crowds. It's not even close. And I love the mountains within America as well. . .great to get away and listen to the sound of nature. . .and her complaining.

I've lived near the beach and the mountains. I'll take beach every time. When I lived in the Rockies, I felt landlocked for the most part.

Depends on the season, the beach and the mountain.

I'm with Frank on this one. The beach is nice for relaxing, depending on the beach :) but I'm more a mountain type of person...this seems strange considering I've never seen mountains, but a girl can dream can't she?On the other hand, I've gotten some amazing beach sunset photo ops here in Naples. That's probably the only thing I'd miss about leaving this place.

I'm a mountains kinda guy. The beach is fine for a day of relaxation, snorkelling is a lot of fun, boating is nice too - especially sailing. But the mountains are full of the power and wonder of nature. They are forbidding and call you to take them on. Skiing, climbing or just hiking in the mountain wilderness, the payoff of a spectacular view and a rest at the end of the day are all the sweeter for the effort that was required to get there.
