De Niro is too one dimensional. Walken often plays more challenging roles too.

I give the edge to De Niro, for his earlier work. Now, he "acts" as if he doesn't give a shit and it shows.Walken always seemed to be one midget step ahead of the guys with the nets at Bellvue. I like that sort of Joe Pesci meets Lawrence Olivier thing he has going...

Walken: You know........Bawwwb,......there's a certain........way you have........of talking........that............draws the viewer...............into the scene.............. I think....it has to do with.........the cadence of..........your sentences that....starts out......slow and thoughtful and..........then......picks up momentum......like....a runaway........train.De Niro: Chris (long pause and deep breath) I'm pretty sure you, mmmm, might-be-onto-something-there-you-could-probably-learn-a-thing-or-two-if-you-picked-up-the-pace-a-bit-and-let-people-get-home-from-movie-theatre-by-a-decent-hour.

Robert DeNiro - can't deny his major acting talents. Same with Walken - yet with the addition of an edgy surreal sexiness. Looks like I've got to go with Walken.

I'd take DeNiro in his prime over Walken in his prime, though of course both were very good. However, both should be flown to Singapore and beaten with bamboo rods for the absolute shit they've appeared in over the last decade or so.

Love Walken. As others said he is a very versatile actor, he can play creepy bad guys, scientists, dramatic and comedic roles as well.

LIke both actors. but Agree that Walken is more versatile in his roles. he can be anywhere from creepy, funny, break your heart. damn good actor. and he can dance too! Robert Deniro is also a good actor. but does seem to play the same kind of role a lot. maybe too bad that he should try and play other kinds of roles. he would probably be fine in them.

Walken.Aside from "Awakenings", Robert De Niro is Robert De Niro in every role...aka, a more talented version of Kevin Costner.Conversely, Christopher Walken has shown a range that goes beyond just "good/ great actor"...he has an innate ability to immerse himself into whatever role, while taking you...gentle viewer...along for the ride. The man is absolute genius.
