The only thing significant this slut has ever done is spread her legs. I see she is going to be interviewed by Oprah. At last, the two most useless women in American, TOGETHER! My belly button hasn't stopped puckering!!!

No big surprise. This is just one more token of her flightyness and inconsistancy.Just in case a few dimwits hadn't yet noticed that she's a total nutbag.

The criticism that Sarah Palin receives from David Letterman and a very cowed and anxiety ridden Far Left, is beset with enviousness, jealousy and the fear of her ability to psychologically tear down their values and spirits. Unlike the darts thrown at her for "quitting her job" is the unwillingness of naysayers like Bill Maher and Mathews and Garafalo to accept her verifiable right to leave her job for greener pastures as a media darling and defense mechanism for those who will bring down our country. Sarah Palin also is destined to be very wealthy in her new endeavor as compared to being a civil servant. There are books ongoing and being planned. She singled handily may have preserved our outstanding American health care system which 85% of Americans endorse. She is beautiful and appealing, intellectually gifted and an operative who must be there as America suffers an eventual 9 trillion dollar deficit, civil unrest and housing and credit crunches. Sara Palin not only made the right decision to leave public office and become a millionaire media figure and advocate for her political party, she is a necessary proponent that will bring back sensibility to our government. Let the Mahers, Mathews and Garafalos go fish if they do not like her and the decision. Jealously, fear and enviousness permeate the fear of the the Left Wingers as they ponder their fate in the presence of a Wonder Woman.-- Jay Adler, OwnerFreelance WritingInternet ReviewsGoogle:Jay Adler Comments

I find it hard to believe it was smart to leave before her term was over. I do like her, however. I think we need someone like her who can say NO to politics as usual. Look what we are going through with Obama now. Palin would be a much better President. Obama is just pushing Kennedy's and Clinton's agenda through. Obama WILL ruin the United States with his policies.

I will reluctantly mark this as a three "significant" due to the fact that she was the vice presidential pick. But we have to face facts, oh ye learned members of the RIA. She is extremely attractive, feisty and all that. Unfortunately, though "the stream is wide, it is not very deep." I hope I am close to the original cliche.
She appears to be a little on the weird side. This ends any hope that she has for any higher office.
fitman 07/24/2009
Fortunately, nearly everyone on the "far left", "near left", "middle left", "middle right", "near right" - and even the more astute on the "far right" - figured out she is ridiculous. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's impossible for her to become president.Think, "W".UPDATE:Sarah has the last word?

Not terribly significant or shocking, especially given the trail of ethical complaints she has left in her wake. The latest is that she may have violated ethical rules in her acceptance funds donated to a trust set up to pay off her legal bills from previous ethical investigations. You can't make this shit up.I see she's also decided to throw her hat into ring as an environmental expert by taking a shot at the cap and trade policy (which she supported on the campaign trail with McCain). Best of luck to the GOP in reigning this idiot in. History has proven that she'd be much better suited to a job as a folksy Ann Coulter than to being held accountable for her actions in the real world.

I'm happy for her, she's almost off the bullseye of hatred of nearly every left-leaning person in the civilized world. If there is any fairness, her last name will become a verb in the American lexicon, much the way Robert Bork's became one. It is not disappointing to me, only revealing of the hatred and condescension of which the ideologically driven press/media has become capable. While Obama whines incessantly and futilly moans for bi-partisanship and civility, the lefties infer she doesn't possess the toughness for high office. What's funniest is the idea that Sarah Palin is a political laughingstock and Joe Biden has the serious job of Vice-President of the United States because it was so important to keep embarrassing gaffe machines out of any position of importance, lest their "inexperience" become apparent. She's earned the right to cash in on the book and lecture circuit, which she will undoubtedly do, giving her tormentors ample opportunity to continue sniping and griping about her. And, heaven knows, they'll seldom miss an opportunity to fire their cheap shots and pile on every chance they get. Tell me again how she deserves it . . . she joins a long line of republican laughingstocks, successfully (and unfairly) characterized as such by the American press: Spiro Agnew, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney. Anyone else notice a pattern?

In the words of Jon Stewart, after analyzing the reasons for Sarah Palin's announcement:"I was really hoping for a sex scandal..."
Astromike 07/04/2009
I can't say I blame her. Shes was absolutely destroyed ever since she entered the 08 election. The off color David Letterman rape joke about her daughter was barely a month ago. Im sure that was one of the final breaking points, so I kinda saw this coming.
abichara 07/04/2009
This shouldn't leave any doubt about her political aspirations! Normally politicians wait to serve out their full term before resigning to run for higher office. Sometimes they even stay in office while running. She decided to leave early; no doubt so she could leave out on top.It strikes me as an imprudent move, given her weak credentials, but she's probably weighing other considerations in mind. The budget situation in Alaska has deteriorated and ethics violations continue to pound her. Doing this allows her to focus more on political networking and fundraising in the lower 48 without having to worry about those distractions.Palin is clearly going all in for a run. Perhaps she sees other candidates like Romney laying out the groundwork for a run and doesn't want to get behind. It's been only 8 months since the last election and already the players are lining up. What surprised me was that she didn't serve out her term. I fully expected her not to run for a 2nd term, as it was very obvious that she was planning on running for President. Can she succeed? She struck me as a engaging politician with a lightweight policy record. Extra time in lower office would benefit her. But she seems to think otherwise. Campaign 2012 is already heating up, and it's only Summer 2009. UPDATE: New bits of information are now coming out. Apparently she claimed that the Governor job was becoming a heavy burden. Just my thought...if the Gov job is too overwhelming for her, I'm not too sure that she'll be able to handle the pressures and scrutiny of the Presidency. If she continues to hark on this, this might just damage her national prospects irrevocably. She's delusional if she thinks she can handle the national spotlight. I'm sure the budget and ethics problems weighed on her, but as they say..."when the going gets tough, the tough get going".

Whether or not many of Sarah Palin's problems are of her own doing remains debatable. But the fact is that she has been such a target of immense ridicule from much of the far left (for obvious political reasons) and the press (who seem to possess a personal vendetta against her). She is now a political lightning rod, and she inspires much emotion from those who support her and from those who loathe her. As far as her move to resign as Governor of Alaska, aside from resigning her post, the move to private life prior to assuming the highest office isn't entirely without precedent. Former Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were private citizens prior to being elected to the highest office in the land. But if Palin is trying to emulate them, the problem is that she does not possess the political clout or savvy of the formers- Nixon having been a former United States Senator and two-term Vice President, and Reagan being a former two-term Governor of California. And I agree with many of the reviewers here in that one of the knocks against her is her supposed lack of political experience. Resigning her bully pulpit of the governorship of Alaska, especially after one term may not be the most expedient thing for her to do if she is trying to make a run for President of the United States. Democrats and liberals alike have now begun to call her a quitter, arguing that if she isn't able to even complete a single term as Alaska's governor, how can she even think about taking on the Presidency of the United States. It does raise questions from those in the political know about Palin's decision-making, and it does give her detractors more ammunition to lob against her should she run. However, if she is resigning because she has a genuine wanting to return to private life, people ought to respect her decision. Palin has endured so much misery from political life, some of which has become personal (especially against her family). Politics can be cruel, and she has become the poster child for the wrath for much of an uncontrolled, angry press whom are bent on personal destruction because they disagree with someone or they aren't "like them". Snobbish? Yes. Unfair, but that is politics. Personally, I do not feel she is nationally electable because of such negative publicity that surrounds her. But her resigning of her post is overall newsworthy because of her name recognition and her supposed ambitions for higher office. From a political standpoint, it might be a decision she comes to regret if she decides to pursue the Presidency later.

My take here is that if this is a clear the decks move to start a run at the presidency in 2012 it is a serious tactical error on her part. This can easily be spun (and already has been) as abandoning the constituents she was elected to represent in order to pursue personal ambition, or spun as (and this has been heard too) that she can't handle the heat of a staggering economy and declining oil revenues in her home state. The old political apparatchik in me smells something underneath this, however. There have been implications of ethical misconduct that began well before her VP run, and I can't help but wonder if she's getting out before chickens come home to roost.Either way, its interesting but not significant. Palin has no legitimate shot at the presidency, and the GOP (despite its remarkable aim in shooting itself in the foot of late) knows it.
CastleBee 07/04/2009
Frankly, I hope that whatever the reasons for this latest news bulletin - personal, political or private - works to her continued detriment. I wouldn't vote for her if she descended from Mt. Olympus on a lavender cloud. The sooner her story fades to black the better.
sperryc 07/04/2009
I'd get annoyed by the flurry of accusations of ethical misconduct too, I guess. But I tend to agree with the consensus here that this might have been a bad move as far as solidifying a future bid for the presidency. But maybe it will help her? Who knows? I've seen more surprising things (e.g., her warm reception as a VP candidate in '08). Maybe she really does need a full 3 years to brush up on her con law, so that "gotcha journalism" doesn't get her again:

I love the 'lack of depth on her resume' bullshit. When are folks going to stop trotting that one out? It ranks just behind "Bush lied" (and it's variants) for the most vapid utterance in political discourse in the last 30 years. Lack of depth of ANY kind is what resides in the White House on this very day, and for perspective see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txGirJxFxAw That aside, I'd love it if she just rode off and shouted a hearty "Go F--- YOURSELVES!" to everybody in the MSM and D.C., because collectively they're worth no more than that.
Wiseguy 07/04/2009
Five stars as a tabloid media event. When I say tabloid, that includes the entire media I really don't care what her reasons for resigning are. The Liberal establishment's scared to death of Mitt Romney, the slimy media will prop up Palin to give her an advantage over him, that is how McCain gained the edge in the G.O.P primaries. For some reason, we don't desire smart leaders anymore.
Victor83 07/04/2009
I am sure Twan could tell us all about the concept of entropy. Right now, so could pretty much anyone in the GOP. As others have said, Palin either got too hot in the kitchen and wanted out, or there is a scandal looming (now wouldn’t that be fun?) The short-term significance of this will depend upon further revelations- if there are any. Long term however, I rate this no higher than 2 stars.Sarah Palin was not the future of the GOP. She was both crucified and lampooned by the media, and the Republican powers-that-be turned their backs on her at least eight months ago. If Sarah Palin could un-seat Obama in 2012, they likely believe, so could most anyone and we want someone who will tow the party line.In the meantime, one of two scenarios will play out: Either A) the media will continue to have a field day with the implosion of the Republican Party, or B) Michael Jackson is not really dead- it was all a publicity stunt- and the GOP will thank God that focus shifted.

C'mon, President Palin, really? That's a moose-sized pair of balls that she's got there (quite possibly in the trophy case) if what she's dreaming about. Her greatest perceived liability (among a laundry list of them) as a vice presidential candidate was the lack of depth on her resume. Quitting the job that was your entry ticket to the big show ¾ of the way through isn’t going to solve that problem, unless she makes a surprise announcement on Monday that she’s been appointed Secretary General to the UN.Part of me suspects that she's just decided to get off the train because she has put up with a lot of crap in the last 10 months and lost her taste for it. That would be a rational explanation for her actions, but let's not assume the obvious in this case.
magellan 07/03/2009
It's governors gone wild! I'm no expert at this stuff, but it seems unusual for a sitting governor with higher office aspirations to resign mid term. If you don't believe me, check out that South Carolina guy who is doing everything possible not to resign.I sense some sort of scandal or a back room deal. I mean, it just doesn't make sense. As others have noted, her most glaring weakness is the depth of her experience. This sort of high profile quit just doesn't happen without a scandal or a medical condition lurking under the surface.
Chalky 07/03/2009
I think Sarah Palin resigning is pretty significant. I don't agree w/most of her policies but I think she is a nice person, and has gotten screwed by most media. That being said, I think when she stepped on the national scene, she pretty much bastardized her constituency in Alaska. I think when she got to the national level, it was like she was almost too good. I read an article stating how Alaskans wanted the old Sarah Palin, but again, once she got so much exposure then you know that isn't going to happen. Also, like so many other politicians, she'd rather be at a fundraiser in Manhattan than in Juneau....but that's with most politicians anyway. I'm sure she'll run for higher office, and if that doesn't work out for her, I think she'd get her own television program.
zuchinibut 07/03/2009
Its funny how Palin is acting coy about whether or not she will run for President in 2012. The woman got a taste of the spotlight this past year, and she obviously loves it. I don't think she has a chance in hell of being elected President, but she does bring some much needed personality to the political forum. I wonder if this move will backfire on her when she does start campaigning. Her lack of credentials has been the biggest knock against her, and she is painting another target on her stomach by not finishing her term. It will be an easy question for the cynics to ask..."How can she lead the country for four years when she couldn't even finish a full term in Alaska?" I don't think this is a wise move on her part.
CanadaSucks 07/03/2009
I'm shocked. . .A dim-bulb pin-up object of mastabutory fantasies of sexually-repressed conservatives everywhere quitting? Stunning. The second or third greatest fundraiser in the modern history of the democratic party has just left the stage. When that skank opened her mouth trailer-park voters got erections and smart people poured millions (millions) into the coffers of the democratic presidential fund. For sheer entertainment value of being the poster-child of different American hypocrisies, she'll be missed by me and others. . .for those who think she has something (anything) to offer the GOP, all I can say is the democrats are praying to their false gods that you bring that illiterate breeder back on the campaign trail soon. . .please. . .
