They've influenced each other and cross-bred successfully.Elvis,Jerry Lee Lewis,Stones,Grateful Dead,Dylan,Johnny Cash,Drive by Truckers,Southern Culture on The Skids.I'm more into rock, but I think there's plenty of good country (and bad rock).

Real country music is a form of rock'n'roll (or vice versa). Most modern "country music" is generic rock with big hats and a fake hillbilly accent.

I pity the fool who feels its required to choose one and not listen to anything else. Both forms have gone through periods of great soul and creativity and mind numbingly dull product. And great artists from both fields have made great music in the other. In fact one of my favourite country artsts would be the Rolling Stones.

I like a lot of both, but sticking more with my southern roots and the music I grew up with - I'd have to say "country" for this one.

Though I like old (really old) country like Patsy Cline, Rock & Roll is the easy choice here."Dawged if kuntry don't git depressin' sometimes"....

I have a hard time comparing these two. Kind of like comparing rap with reggae. But if I had to live without one or the other, at this point in my life, I'd say goodbye to Rock.

I'll take country at its best (Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, George Straight etc., and not stuff like Rascal Flatts or Kenny Chesney) over rock any day.
