Barbecued chicken is great, but I have to agree with Sis on this one. It has to be white meat, or none at all! :)

I love barbecue chicken at picnics. But my trick is to marinate two lbs. of chicken thighs (and/or drumsticks) overnight in a container with 1/2 cup of bourbon, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1/2 cup of molasses (or honey), a teaspoon of red pepper flakes, a clove of garlic chopped finely, and a teaspoon of wasabi powder (or you can substitute it with some crushed ginger). Then when grilling, alternately brush it with olive oil and the marinade until fully cooked.Serve with a side of potato salad, and voila!Enjoy.

Sure it's great - but, I would only make this one at home. I would not care to either transport, store it or cook it elsewhere. Too messy.

Barbecued chicken is a good picnic standard that is also quite cheap to make. My recommendation is that if you don't know the cook, stick with smaller pieces like the wings and drumsticks. I've found that way too many self-titled grillmasters don't know sh** about grilling. When they grill thicker pieces of chicken, they tend to burn the outside and leave the middle underdone. Not a bad way to make a steak, but a good way to make people sick if it's chicken.
