 | LadyJesusFan777 (33) 06/30/2007 | A very useful way to communicate with those who cannot hear. I
learned a little bit to get me by, as I used to work with someone who was
deaf.

 | CherrySoda99 (29) 01/18/2006 | I love sign language. I've been using it since I was little, and I know all the alphabet and a lot of words. We sign songs in church just for fun, and I love it. It's a beautiful language if you do it properly.

 | Randyman (103) 03/20/2005 | To Superwombat, sign languge is universal. People from differant countries can talk to each other by sign. I have two deaf uncles and Aunts that sign.Oh, and show me what language isn't man made. Who made english? A kangaroo? Just a thought.

 | superwombat (0) 03/20/2005 | This one doesn't even deserve to be on the list. It isn't a language. It's ASL American Sign Language and it is another method of speaking english.
Calling this a man-made language is like calling the written word a man-made language

 | Jed1000 (72) 11/29/2004 | It has served me well since the age of thirteen when I lost the ability to use my voice. I found it limiting and frustrating at first but eventually came to love it. It's very expressive and actually beautiful at times. Almost poetic. The guys on my soccer and baseball teams in high school all learned to use it to some degree and found it useful for communicating across a playing field.. without our opponents knowing what we were saying. Since the average person doesn't sign I find that they pay much closer attention to what I'm saying when I sign than when I use written messages. I always manage to make myself understood one way or another. Works for me with few real drawbacks.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 11/24/2004 | Huh? I know just enough sign to know when my sister, the licensed interpreter, is insulting me. This is a fantastic and animated language and I wish I knew more of it.
