I don't remember ham ever being part of any Thanksgiving holiday table I ever sat at when I was a kid. Which wasn't a bad thing; as a kid, I disliked ham (once, at the age of 4, a friend and I, wearing Superman capes, walked alongside a major highway to a shopping center on the other side of town, where we wanted to check out toys. After being "found", my punishment was that I was made to eat ham for lunch. My mother says I told her, "But we wouldn't have gotten hurt; after all, we were wearing our Superman capes!") Ham was associated with Easter (the saving grace there was macaroni and cheese, which I loved). Turkey with Thanksgiving and Christmas (when I was lucky enough to celebrate the holidays with my Italian friends, we received Italian food along with the turkey). Thankfully, as I got older, I grew to love ham. Not to the point that it will ever overtake turkey in my personal esteem, but I look forward to eating it now, and that's a far cry from the way it used to be, way back when.

Again, gotta have ham at the holidays too...... though usually at thanksgiving i just make turkey, christmas I make both ham and turkey, and then easter i make ham. But to each their own.

YES!! While they are not exactly cheap, if you can afford to have one with your turkey, why the hell now? Its delicious!

No, no, no...it's turkey for Thanksgiving, prime rib roast for Christmas and ham for Easter. Those are the rules.

If we're not doing turkey, I want a big bone in ham, speared with cloves, glazed with honey and hot mustard, baked to fall off the fork perfection.

sorry but not me. I look forward to that turkey on Thanksgiving. I have heard of both being served at a big Thanksgiving dinner. we have not had the experience. I guess if I got invited to Thanksgiving and they served ham, I would be polite and eat some and not be rude. i would hope there would be turkey as well. to each their own. we all have our traditions.

We usually have both a turkey and a ham at Thanksgiving. I like them both equally.

It's hard to screw up a ham, but it can be done. I can swear to that.

Ham is good, but I'd rather have Turkey at Thanksgiving. Now at Christmas, on the other hand, ham is king.

My mom always made both turkey and ham each year. Yesterday, I met someone who has a tradition of turkey and beef ribs. Interesting.

Nothing like a nice smoked Virginia Ham!

I have been to a large gathering where you got both ham and turkey on the same plate. Now that was eating!

Ok, so some people don't like turkey. Fine, have some ham on hand. But not as a replacement for the turkey already!

It takes less time to cook than a turkey. My favorite.

Pretty good, but on Thanksgiving I tend to go for the turkey. At least my grandma is okay with having both for dinner!

I like ham, but I'd prefer turkey for Thanksgiving. If I can have both, though, I would!

Yum!!!!!! I love ham especially a Honeybaked Ham. Unfortunately, my wife is not a ham fan so I don't see it too often.
