Miles Standish used to get drunk off sparkling 'cider.' He drank it out of his pilgrim hat. While drunk, he would jokingly refer to 'Plymouth Rock' as 'Plymouth Piece of Sh*it.'

Gimme a beer. If you don't have that, I'll take wine, whisky, gin, vodka, whatever you got. I'm not big on sobriety on Thanksgiving.

We have ours heated with cinnamon sticks and Zeigler's spice tea bags. It's very good this way. I get the packets wholesale from a friend and we use them all year long in place of liquid potpouri. I just throw a few into some water and simmer it. It makes the house smell good all day. It really lingers.

We always go for the hard stuff or wine at dinner.

Sparkling cider was fun when I was little, but I'd much rather drink wine at this point in my life.

Well, I prefer sparkling cranberry juice, but it certainly adds to the festive mood. Growing up, this was as festive as beverages got. There would never have been alcohol of any kind. This has its good and bad points, of course.

I was tasked with brining this to our family meal. Looks fancy in the bottle, but it's really just carbonated juice made to look like an expensive wine.
