Looks the part and sounds the part but he is just not cool enough for the job. His career is just to sappy, and Bond would never pay for it.

He's too old and too goofy. Bond should be chic, suave and cool. Grant is silly, sappy and funny. He doesn't exactly meet the job description.

His eyes seem very apologetic, no matter what is coming out of his mouth. Given some his past roles, what comes out of his mouth IS usually a stumbling apology for some screw-up. Bond needs to be confident, not apologetic.
