For the fourth billion time, primates are not cute and cuddly pets. 90% of these exotic animals are being sold illegally. Most monkeys carry lethal diseases like hepetitus B(that can be transmitted to humans) and they can also be aggressive when they reach puberty. And if your solution to "bad monkey" problem is to remove their teeth, you should be arrested for animal cruelty. Update: Item description- They're so human! They must make great pets! Look for a fun time if u are to take on one of these creatures. Bitch please! Curious George is not so cute when he's screaming and biting you to death. Update ll: What ever happen to Michael Jackson's chimp?

they may be cute and amusing to watch. I would never want one for a pet. have heard too many disaster stories of those who have tried to make a "pet" out of these animals. they were never intended to be pets.

In all likelihood, the people who are rating monkey's highly as pets are the type that would also like to have a unicorn in their back yard by their playhouse.

We came face to face with an ugly, angry monkey that dropped out of tree when we were walking down a resort pathway in Mexico. They actually try to scare the hell out of you in the hope that you will drop all of your stuff and run. Then they go through your bags looking for snack food. My son, who was 9 at the time said after the face off, that not only did the monkey look really mean, but that he had the biggest balls he'd ever seen.

Too close to humans and too smart to handle. I know a guy who had a monkey for a few days. It escaped and hung from the ceiling by its tail on a pipe. It crapped down the walls. They are messy.

I desperately wanted one as a kid. I grew up watching Abbott and Costello performing comedy with their whacky simian companion Bingo the Chimp (turns out that Costello was terrified of the chimp; when it bit him during one particular episode, he angrily had it expelled from the set and never had it on the show again). As a child, I used to vacation with my family at my aunt and uncle's house in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and at one of the houses along the beachfront a monkey was kept in an outdoor cage, and I always thought how great it would be to have it as a pet. At this point in time, as a crotchety middle-aged adult, that childhood desire is long, long gone. I had enough trouble with dogs and cats. From what I understand, monkeys can be dirty, nasty-tempered animals. I never met my late birth-father, but I've talked with his sister and cousin numerous times since re-connecting with my biological family. I've learned that in addition to pigeons (which can attract rats), my birth-father had a monkey. At one point, it got out of its cage and somehow or other got behind the walls in the house where my birth-father was staying at the time. He and my cousin attempted to coax it out to no avail; they weren't even sure what portion of the wall the monkey was behind. Occasionally, they'd hear it making noises and would once again begin their fruitless endeavors to coax it out. When they thought they had pinpointed its location, they'd hear it chattering behind another section of wall in another portion of the house. Finally, in desperation, they began punching holes in the portions of the wall where they thought the monkey might have taken up residence. My cousin said he peered into one of the holes and saw these gleaming monkey eyes peering back out at him. I'm pretty sure that was the last monkey my birth-father ever kept as a pet.

Sure they look cute, but they can bite and very active, plus most cities and states don't allow them for pets.

Monkeys belong in either a zoo, or in the wild, where they belong.

Not the cute creatures everyone thinks they are. Did anyone see what that monkey named bobo and his pal did to that older gentleman? Long story short, they kicked his ass! I saw him on a talk show, he no longer has a nose, and some of his fingers are gone, gone dudes! The scary thing was that this was only two little chimps. Imagine what would of happened if those were gorillas!

Well, SamIam left the expirience that sam had. Opinions are mostly the expirience one had. For example, my opinion on Melissa (a made up person used for example) is that she's mean and horrible. Why? because of the events that she and i have been in and the way she treated ME. but to her friends and families opinion.. she can be the sweetest thing. now, the point i'm getting at is, there is always two ways to look at things, the bad or the good. If i make a list of bad thingson you, (that are facts) and post it online. The person reading will grimace and say.. what an aweful child. i wish not to see him/her same goes vice versa, if i only put good thingsa about you.. the person will concider you a saint. However, if i put both the facts... the person will know you are a good person... but of course, like everyone else, have your ups and downs. Wise advice is, if you are willing to take FULL responsibility for a monkey... very well. Be serious!! but since many dont have the patience and tolerence or had badexpiriences or focus on the bad things... then they aparently cannot percieve themselves to manage such a thing. Think about what CHAOTICIAN said. I believe this person has a good point. Aslong as you CAN HANDLE IT. AND many people have. Apparently since some learn sign language. and help out. the point here aswell : It all depends on you. your tolerence. the point of view... the patience etc.. because no matter what... humans will always domesticate animals and make what seems impossible come true. (like taking a Wild ANIMAL and taming it like a cat or dog. So how about it...? do you think you are one of those people whohave enough patience to perform such miracles?

Monkeys are wild animals meant to live in the wild, and maybe a zoo if it is humane. To keep them as pets is far too cruel, even if you love them like a child.

"Go monkey! throw your shi* at intruders! chase down the theif! now...when we walk down this aisle, pop out of my pack and grab some things..." If i had a monkey that's what I'd say to it. mine would steal for me and protect my house by throwing its own dung at my enemies. if i got in a fight at school, he'd jump out of my backpack and cup a bunch of shi* in his hand and fling it in my enemy's eyes. then id laugh and laugh. everyone would laugh, even my opponent would. we would have great times...i'd call him Fojar. fojar and me...what a great time...

I am a Monkey - a 17-year old male Chimpanzee to be exact. I think it's quite ironic that you humans think you consider us pets. What you don't realize is that most of us think YOU make good pets. I help my human companion more than he helps me (which isn't much). In return, I get to eat great food, terrorize the neighbors, and use the computer all I want! I am giving myself five stars - and you all should think about who's the boss around here.

Yes they are cute to see in a zoo, or on a nature show on television. As far as having them as a pet, I would always have this fear that it would just lunge for my eyes and rip them out.
