Don't Go Here!State Farm - Paul Jordan -- Carrollton, TXMy insurance was cancelled after an accident (first in 18 years) and one small weather claim. This agent said it was "for the good of all other customers" to "keep rates down." If an agent will cancel you for needing the insurance you pay for every month, every year, every decade... why have insurance?

....also wanted to comment on the level (or lack of) service from State Farm. I called my agent angry over the fact that they would even consider dropping me because of two claims (one not even in the home I currently own), and had asked if this was a result of countries economic downturn, reply: "..we down sell that sir." Huuuhhhh? After 3 phone calls (span of 2 months) and 2 e-mails I still have not heard back from my agent until today where they notified me that they finally spoke with the home office and they would not continue on with the policy! Crazy thing, my wife is insured on her automobile and a different agent through SF, and will drop her coverage so we can bundle and save with the competition. Lose a customer + two through poor service, way to go State Farm!

I have home owners and two cars insured. I have used them for 10 years. my home owners has gone up 10% each of the past 2 years. I went to my agent to find out wy and he said because of the storms. He talked for an hour trying to sell me more insurance. Then about a week later I get an aditional bill on one of my cars do to rate increase. I should have just stayed away.

Try working for them! Lol The Farm has lost their ethics and morals - it seems to be all about money, advertising big and screwing the little guy! Need I say more?! Glad I am off the farm.

No problem for years. They gladly accepted my premium payments. I had the nerve to file a claim for storm damage last year. They refused to renew my policy after that.

My house was broken into four months ago and the claims rep calls back about every three weeks to tell me she is missing my paperwork, then it was my police filing number, now it is that is not enough proof of ownershhip of the item. They want more proof. Ugh! The expect wait time on a check is now a minimum of two more weeks with half of our items not covered.

Outstanding claims service on first party automobile physical damage claims.

so far, State Farm has been up front on my policies, very friendly and you "get what you pay for" (knock on wood). I wouldn't mind paying for State Farm rather than pay them "discounted" insurance companies for half of what State Farm offers.

We had an engine fire that had totaled my car. It took the State Farm about 3 weeks to get the fire report, while we sat with no car, taking public transportation 2 hours to work each way. They kept telling us that they had requested the fire report several times and even sent someone down there to get it, but we called the fire bureau and they said they recieved zero requests. So finally fed up, my wife took matters into her own hands calling the fire investigator and in a matter of a couple of hours and a few phone calls we got the fire report on our own. They should be paying us for doing their work! Then they said that they would overnight the settlement check Wednesday so we should get it on Thursday. We didn't get it until Monday, and we even had to call them to see if they got it. When we got there, they said that had recieved it Friday! But didn't bother to call! So we finally get our check and it turns out they made the check co-payable to our bank (Chase) which was fine if we had any Chase banks in our area! So now we have to overnight our settlement check to Chase, then they will take their cut of the check, then send the remaining amount. I asked why State Farm just didn't pay off our bank and they said that it would have been more paper work! It was as if this was State Farm's first claim they have ever handled. We had to do their work, calling the fire bureau, ordering the fire report, calling and making sure our check had arrived, sending out the settlement check to Chase. What the hell did they do? Needless to say we are switching insurance companies.

The worst service ever! My car was rear-ended and they treated me as if I was not even their client. I had to file a claim with the insurance company of the person that hit me. My insurance company was not helpful or all. I was not made whole, or even assisted. I am shoping now for a new insurance company.

Every state farm agent I have had the displeasure to deal with is truly a company man. They have no interest at all beyond getting your business. Sign on the dotted line and they dissappear. As soon as there is a problem you are talking to someone in a far off claims office who does not care about personal service or customer loyalty. Stay away from Tom Poelzer in Brookfield Wisconsin

Our State Farm agent failed to advise us on coverage. Although I claimed $10,000 worth of jewelry on the questionaire I filled out for my application he never made mention that my policy would only cover $2500. He never suggested a supplemental policy. My jewelry was recently stolen and I can only recover $2500. Make sure your agent spends time with you explaining your coverage. Im in the process of filing a malpractice suit against him. Yes, Agents must be covered for not advising their clients!

I was very surprised to find after almost 10 years of service with state farm they cancelled me with no options and no notice. All because my wife is not insurable thru State Farm. She is insured by Progresive though, but that doesnt matter since if she drives my vehicles State Farm would be liable for her. huh!! thats why she has insurance and most importantly her own car. So I am very surpised and dissatisfied with State Farm and will never seek insurance thru their company again, nor recommend them to anyone.

I have had State Farm for about 25 years in Arizona and my service has always been fairly good but recently my daughter was in an accident while attending school in Boise and the service we received from the State Farm in Boise and Olympia was horrible.

This company is horrible. I am the only homeowner in my community that didnt get a claim for storm damage. I am also the only one with State Farm. They are unbelievable crooks. The roofer had to put up tarps to keep water out. They actually sent out engineers to get on the roof and write up a document saying that hail damage cant cause roof damage. This company basically is who state farm pays to come in when they are not going to give a claim. These idiots couldnt even get on the roof without a harness. They had the nerve to say the damage was foot traffic(like someone in running around on my roof) They are absolutely fraudelent. Several contractors have told me that they are notorious for this. As a matter of fact, he said several adjusters come out without a ladder to look at the roof. How can someone not even get on your roof and deny your claim?? They come out knowing they are saying no.

been with state farm since 1992! let them have fee rien of my checking account by deducting my ever changing policy amounts monthly,,,,but when my 16 year old kid has to be listed as a primary driver on one of my vehicles then there good nieghbor policy goes right out the window! my son got his own policy for his car with another insurance carrier,,but that wasnt good neough for state farm! they then cancel my vehicle unless i sign a paper ,,,,,i feel this is ridiculous since he has his own policy! so 14 years of faithful service to them has gotton me a slap on the face! state farm Su**s.

I'm an attorney and the clients who come to me complaining about insurance bad faith are most often dealing with AAA. State Farm is second.

I have had state farm for both my vehicles and my house for seven years. I have had one clam paid out for Theft loss two years ago. Recently I found out I had some water and mold damage in my bathroom. I called State Farm and they sent someone out to look at it. They informed me that because it was mechanical failure on my shower valve that the rot and mold was not covered. (I was miffed, but understood that mold is not covered) Two months later I get a letter stating that my home owner insurance is being dropped. Because I "made a claim" against my policy, they dropped me. No money was paid out because the damage was not covered. Again, because I have too many claims in 3 years (two claims) one was paid out in the amount of $1988.00 which after my $500.00 deductable amounts to a whopping $1488.00. The other they said they would not cover. Be very careful if you get "Snake" Farm. They will bite you in the A$$. J Quintana

I'm not happy with the way ANY insurance company does things, because they insist that you make all your payments right on time, but on those rare occasions when you need to file a claim, they'll drag things out forever and make you keep asking before they give you back anything to help you out. However.....among the many companies I've tried, State Farm seems to be the best and the friendliest. Most of my experiences with them have been good ones.

I used State Farm for years! They respond fairly quickly on claims! The downside would be that the prices have risen greatly over the years!

i have had state farm auto insurance since i began driving in the late 70's. in 2002 an uninsured motorist sideswiped my car and since i did not have rental coverage i had to spend about $900 to rent a car while mine was in the shop. at the time of the accident my agent assured me that they would pursue all of my expenses from the uninsured cockroach who hit me. i kept calling every three months or so concerning a progress report, and the case kept getting transferred. about a year later i was informed that the company was not pursuing my case for my rental expenses, and that this had been decided about 6 months previously. if i had been told about this up front i would have dealt with it, but to be misinformed really singed my drawers. i wrote an angry letter to state farm which indicated my disappointment about being mislead. it ended by saying that state farm's motto is and like a good neighbor, state farm is there, but in this case i felt more like my good neighbor was the type of neighbor who would have sex with my wife when i was out of town. i didn't receive a reply. my car was fixed, but the whole incident left a sour taste in my mouth. i didn't switch insurance companies, but before this incident i would have given state farm 5 stars.

I remember my mother telling me when I first started driving that State Farm tended to have higher rates. I had a policy with State Farm for about a year and a half when I lived in Florida and cost-wise, it seemed about average. As to service, I had no problems with them at all.

Pretty good, actually. They are usually very reliable and friendly.
