Mutual of Omaha is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I have disability insurance with them and they fight the claim from the get go even using such underhanded techniques as claiming they haven't received paperwork from the claimant or 'lost it' or they simply don't pay, don't call, don't contact you at all. After an incredible amount of hassle with them, numerous calls to customer service (we are talking all day long on some cases), unreturned phone calls left with management and a huge headache on top of my disability they FINALLY were backed in to a corner enough that they promised to pay up. All paperwork was provided to them in a very timely manner (sent same day of request) including my doctors records left them with no choice but to finally agree to pay. My case was pretty cut and dry. I should have been paid within 30 days. It's been three months and I'm still waiting for the check they promised to issue. Thru their creepy actions Mutual of OMaha has shown that they have more greed and dishonesty than ethics or morals. DO NOT TRUST MUTUAL OF OMAHA!!!!!!!!! If you search long and hard enough on the internet you'll find numerous lawsuits against them and consumer opionion sites with horrible reviews of the company. If you ever have to deal with them you will see why their rating are rock bottom. I myself am giving them one star only because I am unable to leave no stars on this webpage. I do not think they deserve even one star. I think they deserve five thousand lawsuits.

It's been many years ago now, but I took out my very first health insurance policy with Mutual of Omaha when I first left home to live alone in another state. After suffering a dislocated shoulder (trying to play football, of all things), I filed a claim. I wasn't satisfied with the help they gave me, so I switched to another company. The agent came over to my house a few days later and tried to start an argument and bawled me out, then tried to talk me into changing back. I couldn't believe he thought I would come back to Mutual of Omaha right after he had sat in my living room insulting me. He gave me a lifelong negative impression of the company.

Based on my experience, you'd be better off paying protection to the Mob. Cheaper too.
