 | itsmymoney (0) 07/22/2008 | after a direct deposit error made on my account, it was overdrawn by close to $250. When i called numerous times to keybank, as well as the branch that i opened my account with not even a supervisor was williing to help me with my problem.
Key Bank's mess up cost me over $200, if you are looking for a bank that is willing to meet you at a middle road and come to a solution to please both you and the bank I would strongly reccomend staying as far from this bank as you possibly can.

 | dgrimm (0) 07/16/2008 | Worst bank ever!!! My account had a fradulant charge of 40dollars. I went to the bank, discussed this with the Manager and he recommended that I cancel my check card before anymore charges could go through. He assured me that they wouldn't let the 40dollar charge go through, but guess what they did and then tried to charge me an overdraft fee of 38. Not only that he recommended that I pull all the funds from my account til everything was settled so I did well guess what they charged me a five dollar charge for cancelling my debit card and then charged me another 38 for insufficiant funds, after telling me to pull all the money from the account. Talk about really bad business practices and from all people THE BANK MANAGER!!!! This all happened at the Key Bank in Burlington, Vermont. BEWARE

 | go4gr8 (0) 11/05/2007 | I'm giving one star because of the lack of a usable system.
As a person who sees online banking as a way of the future, the way KeyBank's system handles transactions is quite poor. This can also be attributed to the actual network, where transactions are not posted immediately upon purchase and that there are "clashing" philosophies at work. (An example would be, if the customer is making a purchase and there isn't enough in the bank, does the transaction go through? KeyBank seems to think, "yes", because the item is needed. They then proceed to charge you a large service fee for overdrawing on the account if you don't have overdraft protection.. The customer may think, "no". If you don't have it, why spend it?)
One of the known glitches is the fact that some transactions actually disappear from the system entirely, and reappear perhaps the next day or two. For those using the online banking system (I haven't tested this with the ATM), this disappearing transaction could later bite you in the buttocks if you're performing a lot of electronic transactions. If you don't keep track of your spending and your balance, you may be hit with a service charge especially if you're dealing with limited liquid funds. While you may even be diligent in keeping track of every penny spent, sometimes that is not enough, especially if you're relying on the online banking system to track your balance. In this case then, why even bother having an online banking system?
And I'm giving it four stars because of the great customer service. This then averages out to 2.5 stars or to even it out, 2 stars. The customer service is great because KeyBank knows about their lack-lustre system and actually compensates for it. As long as you remain professional and diligent in making a stand to some known issues, you'll get what you want.

 | starkdoor (0) 05/21/2007 | What a mistake by changing from my existing hometown bank to Key. 24 hour hold on all deposits (even a key check). Internet does have a pending area to watch acount, but doesn't work! When transaction hits it hits. No pending warning. Close at 4:00 pm / so much for a bank for the small business. Several bad checks due to hold on deposit and not aware due to lack of internet failure. My personal bank rep told me I should not rely on internet banking and go back to the old balancing methods. National rep spoke with agreed that she didn't like it as well as her old bank before she got a job at key. $38.00 a pop / Sorry Mr. Shultz!
