Hey my father had the same problems a few people have already mentioned. Bank of America put in larger checks before smaller checks just to cause the account to be overdrawn. My father had checks that were written months before some of the larger checks and BoA put them in largest to smallest. This cause my father to have hundreds in overdrafts. I finally asked them why and they said it is BoA policy to do that. They told us they did it to help the customers because generally the larger checks are more important such as utility bills or mortgage payments. My question is if you are going to honor all the checks anyway and withdraw the amount from my account and charge me the overdraft, then why do you purposely put the larger checks in first? It's clearly to make money.

I'v been with bank of america for about a year, i was happy up till about a month ago when all the problems started. I work night shift 4 days a week, thurs night through sunday/monday morning. I make transactions through out the weekend which are not processed untill monday which i think is a load of shit, anyway, i had shipping charge monday morning totaled up to about 25 at fedex. I had sold an item on ebay for $163, i knew i didn't have all the funds in my checking account but when i got home i transfered the money from paypal. BOA had processed the larger amount first but put it on hold which i didn't understand, and they processed all the little transactions not totalling up no more 1 or 2 bucks a peice, 6 transaction to be exact. My account had enough money for those transaction but not enough for the shipping charge, well because they processed the shipping charge the day i made it but for some reason put it on hold in the background? wtf is that all about? the little transactions they poped $35 overdrafts for all of them, and then when they took the shipping charge off hold they poped me a overdraft for that@!even after i sent through 163 dollars to my account from paypal way before it even showed up my account.i got raped and robbed of $245. Isn; the bank suppose to process the transactions in the order they made...i didn't even think it was legal to cherry pick large transactions to process first. I do not recommend BOA and hope they go bankrupt. All it is a con game cause there loosing there ass off from all the home loans going bad.

I've been with Bank of America for over a year now and haven't had major problems. The only problem I had was when I closed a savings account and opened another. They didn't move all my features from my old account to my new one so I lost my overdraft protection. Well, assuming I had it, I knowingly overdrafted my account. Well, a week later, I got several notices saying that I was getting charged $35 11 times for overdraft issues. Well, I immediately went into my local branch and talked to them. Withing an hour, they had restored my overdraft protection and refunded my $385 for the overdraft fees. The woman explained how sorry she was that it didn't get transfered over and that because I opened the second savings account online, they didn't know to copy over th old savings account settings. Understandable in my opinion. That's the only problem I've ever had. Heck I recently lost a money order receipt and two tellers helped me, one searched through paperwork to find the bank copy while the other searched through the computer. Within 5 minutes I had the Money Order number and was on my way. So far, they are the best bank I've been to. I've done small credit unions and Wachovia. Both of which have their pluses and minuses, although Wachovia is the worst in my opinion.

Bank Of America are crooks! They get one star from me only because they are all over, but their Customer care, or better said(customer don't care)Sucks! They do nothing to help you, just charge bogus fees, and overdraft you for 10 cents! They hold checks for extreme periods and give lame excuses for it! More than one time they charged me and overdraft fee for uncleared funds, which they stated were available on their Bank site and in the ATM. The excuse was that my check wasn't clear, but wait! It wasn't a check that was deposit but CASH! Yes! and while the Bank was still open! They do everything "not" to help or be courteous to their customers. If they would be good to their clients and do all they can to help, I would eat some of their fees and smile! I hope they become Bankrupted of America! P.S. Wachovia Bank Sucks too!

I also had a TERRIBLE experience with customer service. I show up one day and all my money is gone without so much as a phone call. I was unquestionably lied to repeatedly on the phone. When I went to a branch, the manager put a phone in front of me and walked out when I asked for help. This is THE WORST bank. It is like loaning your money to a drug addict.

Organized crime at its best. This "sorry excuse for a bank" forgot to apply a mortgage payment to my account. Then all hell broke loose. They charged me for late fees, they called several times about it, they sent many many threatening letters , I called their office and got nothing but the runaround, so badly that I wanted to give up! And when I finally had enough, I asked them to mail me my payment history, which is very hard to understand when you're no banker but still, I found out that they had never applied one of my payment made more than a year ago. They corrected the mistake, said the were sorry and gave me a 50$ certificate. Don't trust these crooks with your money...

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

I used to be in love with this bank. It actually used to be a great bank! But in recent years they have turned into a terrible, money-snatching bank! My friend, an investment banker, tells me that they have turned into this because they have no more room to expand since they have already saturated the market, so the only way they can increase profits is to take more money from their customers! Whatever the reason is, DO NOT BANK HERE!!!! So many bad experiences with them in the past few years....

I had a personal account with them for the past 7 years and just opened a business account last week. They told me it would take 5 business days for my check to clear in my business account and they STRAIGHT UP LIED! I'm a mother with mouths to feed and have had bills pile up in my house so I relied on that money being available SO MUCH. Had even scheduled transactions based on their word and got screwed. Then I told them to give me my check back and I'll go somewhere else and they told THEY DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS -- what the heck does that mean?? So they went into the system only to find out that they extended the "hold" on my account. I wanted to know why and the assistant manager insisted she didn't know why. So I told her I need and want answers now and she called internal corporate offices to track down what she called "the risk management" department. After an hour and a half of waiting in their bank with my daughter she found out nothing that we already new and told me my check should be ready not in 2 more days but 3 more days. I'm astounded, disappointed and very angry over the treatment. I cried my eyes out when I got home because I was so angry. My husband took a half day to be with me because I was so distraught. I worked so hard for that money and needed it to be available more than they'll ever know...or even care to know. I will be switching banks next and have now commenced my search. Any and all suggestions from other concerned and diligent bank consumers would be appreciated!

Never seen a more incompetent group. They NEVER do anything right. It took weeks to get simple information. Monthes to close an account. They will never see a dime of my money again.

They were constantly making mistakes on my accounts, I was always on hold trying to get through to someone on the phone to fix their mistakes, and the customer service people are incompetent, snotty, and completely unhelpful.

They have now made it clear that they will extend credit to illegals, all in the name of making a buck.

They *mailed back an endorsed check for $7000 via regular mail*. Without so much as a phone call. Need I say anymore? Do you think I ever received that check? Do you think B of A refunded the bounced check fees I incurred after that deposit disappeared? I have been a customer for over 10 years, but as soon as this mess gets sorted out, I will be switching. Recommendations?

bad customer service, cashing their checks prior to the date pointed on them, permanent attempts to take money from account without a reliable reason, return them after long-waiting calls and conversations

Bank of America makes TOO many mistakes. We make payments, BOA doesn't credit them to our account.... 4 or 5 calls later, the find and fix the problem.... but we shouldnt' have to babysit. This has happened twice in the last six months.

DON'T PUT YOUR MONEY IN THIS BANK! Just to give you an example of how they like to stick it to their customers, take money orders for example. You can go to the grocery store, the post office, or Wal-Mart and get a money order for like 50 cents. Even though you pay a monthly fee to have an account with them, Bank of America charges $4.00 for a money order. $4.00! That's like half what you pay to maintain your checking account on a monthly basis! Not to mention the fact that they were fined for illegal trading.

Bank Of America has horrible customer service, and if you call them to get information about your acct you can't always trust them, they give you false information...They have lossed my deposits and I've had to go by the bank and show them my receipts, and after I prove them wrong they don't even apologize to me for inconvenience or anything. I used to not have any problems with them but they have gown down hill...They have made so many computer errors in the past month with my acct its making me a nervous wreck...They charged me for 2 overdrafts that our incorrect and they have costed me alot of money. It seems like you do more for Bank Of America then they do for you, you have to pay 5.95 a month for checking, high dollar for checks and get nothing in return...It would be easier paying bills with money orders and paying cash for everything instead of being with this company and having to worry about your money going out the window. They are always given me incorrect information on my acct and on everything else, to be confident on something I have to call and talk to 2 or 3 different reps to get a right answer, thats rediculous...I know they have high dollar advertisement and all, but their company is going down hill fast. I used to think that Bank Of America was the best bank, but now I know that I am wrong. Now I have to decide who to bank with next, anybody with good suggestions for banking? Im all ears...I was thinking about Wachovia. Thanks, Brandy
