01/03/2004 | As much as I admire the friendship between Frodo and Sam, I have to say that my relationship with my own best friend is closer to that of Merry and Pippin. They unknowingly go into adventures, innocent of what might happen to them. They age as they see the dangers of life, but they maintain that sweetness. Merry always makes me laugh when he laughs, cry when he cries. He is an expressive character and he shows some true courage in the end, when things don't look so good. And although he grows up and is changed when he returns to the Shire, he still has that mischievous glimmer in his eye and that sly smile on his face. Much applause for Dominic Monaghan!

01/03/2003 | Well . . . maybe I'm a bit biased, I'm a female with weird tastes in men . . . but I just think that Merry (or Dominic M.) is the best looking of all! And I think he plays his character very well. I agree that it was a bit weird in the movie how they just jumped in for the adventure, but . . . I just love Merry!!!

02/09/2002 | Merry, is simply so cute, as are most of the Hobbits. I think that his character is great, because in the book he overcomes great trials and fear to aid those he loves. His dedication and eagerness is truly admirable. In the movie, Dominic does a terrific job! Merry seems to get a little too serious at the end, but hey, it works! It shows that Merry can get down to business if he sees the need!

01/31/2002 | The characters were enjoyable. There is only thing I would have liked changed. That would have been for Peter Jackson to have shown how Merry and Peppin knew why Frodo was leaving and how they conspired to follow him. One question I had was since Merry and Peppin were in the corn field (just out having fun) and not prepared for a major adventure where did provision come from?
