How can he have the audacity to return to the airwaves as a T.V. evangelist? And people are still watching this little imp.

Jim Bakker is full of himself. He cannot rid himself of the limelight or building a monument to himself. If he is rehabilitated, he would not only publicly rebuke his own son for condoning homosexuality as acceptable in the eyes of God and admiting on Larry King he would marry gay people if asked to; but Jim would not use such gutteral language in his blabbering about how he was "persecuted" in prison.....I say he was judged by the Lord..."whom much is given, much is required". Many souls including Jessica Hahn have stumbled over his abuse of his "calling"...I feel sorry for Jim's soul... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=46049813499 56301277 also check out Jay Bakker's interview with Larry King about his stand on gay issues!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8fifIF_jeY&feature=related

The last time I listened to him he was preaching grace but he is selling junk for money and that is disgraceful.

Should still be in Prison what a crook

Edited so I could post Jim's picture

He fell so far... On this side of heaven he can hardly expect people to listen to him again, even though some will.
I used to watch his PTL show when I was younger, and was fascinated with what he was trying to do. How sad it was that he was also trying, and succeeding, at getting rich and living anything but modestly, off of his ministry and the generous people who gave to it.
With such a vast number of excellent and honest ministers available to learn from, there is little need to give ear to good 'ole Jim.
I'll leave him to God to sort out, and will use my time in other places.

This guy is something else. A "salesman" who can't quit. Saw him on TV a while back. He was peddling flashlights and survival kits for the end of the world as we know it. It's a big fall from Christian Amusement Funhouse to Branson, MO. You would have thought he had learned a little more. But then, some people are slow learners, even if they are great salesmen.

Didn't Jim swear he was leaving the ministry after he got out of prison and wouldn't ever do TV again? Isn't he back on TV doing the same mess all over again? People have such short memories. I don't believe this leopard has changed his spots. Wonder if there's an "I"M STILL WRONG" book sequel in the offing?

He has repented and seems truly sorry. Some people were hurt beyond belief, especially Tammy. Jim is now doing his best I think.

For those of you who might have forgotten, Bakker was the head of PTL, the Praise The Lord show back in the 1980s, along with wife Tammy Faye Bakker who looks like a refugee from La Cage Aux Falles. At least, he ran the operation until he got caught schtupping a comely church secretary named Jessica Hahn. From there, his evil televangelist empire unraveled as his other un-Christian activities - ranging from his latent homosexuality to his encouragement of PTL staffers to engage in extramarital affairs - came to light. Having illegally squandered church resources on the most ostentatious luxuries for himself, Bakker was eventually convicted on 24 federal counts of fraud, tax evasion, and racketeering and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. In 2003, fresh out of a halfway house for scam artists, Bakker came back with this b.s. mea culpa paperback entitled I Was Wrong. Everybody on earth apparently forgot how he bilked old ladies out of their life savings so he could air condition his dog's house, or have hundreds of dollars of cinnamon rolls delivered to his sprawling mansion every day just so the place would smell nice. It was all a conspiracy, see, mounted against him by the Devil or Jerry Falwell or somebody. Incredibly, people swallowed all this. Now, he is right back on the Trinity Broadcasting Network pulling the wool over the eyes of a fresh generation of dewy-eyed members of the Cathode Church like nothing ever happened. Recently, I gritted my teeth and watched his show - which originates, appropriately enough I suppose, in Branson, Missouri - and tried to take notes on the patter he uses to induce suckers to send him their money. His secret, like that of other scam artists, seems to be to overwhelm the listener with sheer numbers of key words and catchphrases - whether they are assembled into coherent thoughts or not: "God is ready to move in your life ... with your help, we can reach out to those living in darkness ... Jesus wants his lost sheep to be found ... and if you donate today, I'll send you a cassette tape ... may the spirit of Elijah fall upon you ... the end times are here ... please give generously ..." Those aren't exact quotes; exact quotes would make no sense whatsoever. But you get the general idea. Who to be angrier at? Bakker, a third-rate conman who is only exploiting a niche? Or the pigeons perched in front of their televisions who create that niche in the first place by demanding that somebody clip them?

Of the Televangelists, I give him some kudos for his brokenness. I know he is not perfect, but has come up from much troublesomeness.

I'll never forget seeing Him Broken, I believe an Awesome Merciful God restored Jim Bakker, As He Has restored many Of us... Praise be to God and All Glory to Jesus!!!!! But there are many more that need to be Broken!!!!And turn from their Fast Money Doctrines!!!!
Michael A. Albert 04/21/2005
Jim has been delivered of and forgiven of his past sins. He clearly shows that. Why does he invite prosperity preachers on his show? Why did Jesus eat with the sinners?
blessedbeyondm easure 04/16/2005
A changed man with a heart for Jesus like never before! you who are putting him down aren't worthy to tie his shoes. If you call yourself a Christian, you need to become familiar with a thing God calls Forgiveness. the Blood of Jesus didn't just wash away past sins, but also future sins. By the way, when Jesus died on the cross, ALL sins from there on were future sins. Jesus can restore anyone to anything at any time! AMEN!!!

I have read (more than once) his confessional autobiography, I Was Wrong. There's a whole lot that I like and appreciate about it. There is also quite a bit that annoys me. If there is anyone out there who is not close-minded on the subject of Jim Bakker (and I'm not sure there are any who qualify), I'd like to discuss it with you. As for Bakker himself, I don't want to say much. He did a lot of things I didn't like, but he also did much to help disadvantaged people, something that gets no publicity. And I don't think he was nearly as ghastly as Tammy Faye.
bebe23 01/27/2005
Well, well, well, look who we have here: It's Jim Bakker sans Tammy Faye again begging the public for money. But this time he's doing it on the internet, not just via TV. He and his current wife have started yet another TV ministry which is now located in Branson, Missouri. Why don't fools and scam artists like this just crawl back beneath the rock they came out from under?
