 | madamedragonlily (5) 05/21/2006 | Exactly! The issue the we disagree on is the only thing that can fixed at that moment. Trying to prove a point by calling attention to things in the past will only double the problem at hand because the past is unchangeable. So there will no longer be a solution and things will only get worse.

 | Silver Eagle 252 (8) 05/21/2006 | A lot of comedians talk about this especially in the context of women never forgetting anything and bringing up history whenever a heated argument arises with men. This is what behavior modification is all about. Focus on the specific action and not the person. Sometimes difficult to keep in mind when emotions are running high.

 | kattwoman (24) 11/09/2005 | this can be hard to do. bad memories tend to resurface and you want to remind the other of the pain you feel.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 11/30/2004 | This is true particularly between a parent and child. You always say that or you are always doing that to me poison the rest of the conversation unless they are lassoed in right away, before you go on. (By the way, is lasso a verb? Can it be used in the past tense?) Anyway, when you say this, or when someone says it to you, and it goes un-corrected, you (collectively) are leaving a minefield through which you will surely stomp later.

 | Djahuti (54) 11/30/2004 | Dredging up the past is a sure way to send any relationship down the toilet.Settle things NOW so they don't fester later on.

 | Molfan (58) 11/30/2004 | this is pretty good. No one likes to be reminded of past mistakes. it is not fair to bring up something that happened years ago and never let it go. Kind of up there with saying you never..... or you always....
