I got a kick out of these quotes at the time...but as kind of a sad ending to this whole thing, Bob ended up hanging himself in the days following the war. I guess he DID take his job seriously. Given that he was driven to suicide over the whole thing, I feel sort of bad laughing about it now.

The interesting thing is it seems like Bob kind of likes America. In his little press meetings, he made references to an American movie (Wag the Dog, since you asked) and a few famous Americans. And here he calls the American people clever. It's clear that he never really liked his job and was just saying these things because, well, if he didn't...
