 | cyclee (18) 04/28/2008 | Yes, and parents are relatively smarter than kids, although that doesn`t mean the parents are smart at all..

 | irishgit (138) 04/25/2008 | In my professional experience there are very few things that are black or white. Most things, and most people are shades of grey.
Trying to ingrain a moral, political, social or ethical absolutism is the parenting equivalent of trying to program a robot.

 | oscargamblesfro (77) 04/24/2008 | With some of the terrifying places that the grizzdippers around here must come from, this shouldn't be phrased EVERYTHING is relative, but EVERYONE is (a) relative.

 | lmorovan (12) 04/24/2008 | There are indisputable absolutes that every parent should teach their children. That is, if their parents have received sound teachings from their parents. There are indeed many things that are relative too. So, a parent must exercise wisdom and caution regarding what they teach their children.

 | earthbound (37) 03/29/2008 | Like most items on this list, this is a silly, binary oversimplification.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 10/01/2005 | Sure, nothing is relative. . .never, ever, teach your kids that anything ever changes. 50 years ago, it was okay to expect that a woman didn't really need an education. 400 years ago is was expected that Western Civilization would be spread accordingly through the use of slaves because they were 'lesser' than us. Two thousand years ago everyone thought that that a cult called Christianity wouldn't go anywhere. . .Concepts of good and evil don't really change- but the idea that 'nothing is relative' is a fossilized ideology. . .things change and you will be dragged into the future kicking and screaming with or without your consent.

 | cutegurl (15) 10/01/2005 | Relativism is the most insidious evil to grace modern philosophy. Relativism says, what is right for me may not be right for you and what is right for you may not be right for me. Right and wrong are different for every person. We all live in different spheres of existence. This is wrong. Absolute right and wrong exist and relativism activists are trying to take away consequences for actions. We are seeing it now with the decline of disipline in schools, morality declining, affairs and cheating becoming more and more common, talk of handing out birth control in schools and the state paying for abortions, the list goes on and on. With the distruction of the absolute moral code, we will see chaos descend on our world. Nothing is safe, not even your own life, because following the philosophy of relativsim, murder can be okay. Killing you was right for me, even if it wasn't right for you, your children, or your wife. It's what I had to do, is what we will hear in the future if we allow this movement to progress any further. Under relativism, it may seem you have all the freedom in the world, when in reality, you are controlled by the actions of others.
