According to Budhism, this statement is actually true.

If "you" think you're God then you have more problems than just raising your children.

If anybody teaches this to their kid they are nuts, but there is a general sense of entitlement in the kids today where the world owes them everything despite the fact that they have earned NOTHING. Get out there and bust your asses and quit whining about what you think you should have, you little bastards...

. . .at least I'm not sending my kid to be nailed to blocks of wood and have centuries of lies, fantasies, and misreadings. . .

If you teach your child that he/she is god, then how come you or your spouse are not? Furthermore, why do you get surprised when your child demands worship and adoration when you place him/her on an altar, and demand to be served and given everything he/she desires? You are raising a monster who eventually will turn against you one day.

If you were "god," you wouldn't be living here right now, would you?

It's a dangerous way to think or teach your children to think. First of all, when God said this, He was very angry with those who were going against His commandments and second, don't forget that the English people who translated the scriptures from the original Hebrew and Greek did not have exact words to match some of them. I have to believe that He meant we are His. God's... not gods.

Me personally? Shouldn't that then read, "Eric is God?"

your kidding right? I really dont see this as political..or maybe Im just missing something. Just sounds like bs to me. Are there people telling their kids this? My kids know that their lives are owed to God, but to speak of any human in this way would be bold to say the least and perhaps blastfamy to religious fanatics. I dont see what good this would do them, or how they can benefit from the idea relative to something else or not.

You'd have better luck playing Santa. My kids are to smart for this fairy tale.

Here is a way to have a child growing up thinking they are the center of the universe and no one matters but them. I would hate to have to deal with this potential spoiled rotten brat. And goodness help anyone who married such a person.

Unfortunately because many parents don't like to tell their kids no or properly teach their kids many grow up thinking they are the center of the universe and are greatly surprised when they get older as to how hard the real world is.

I thought liberals were all atheists who wanted to suppress religious freedoms! I suppose they make an exception when a conservative contradicts themselves.

Hey, 85% of the brain is still a mystery, and I'd have to suspect it's not just there to round out the shape of one's head, so who knows? According to Hypocrite (I no longer refer to them as Christians) theology, God'll explain EVERYTHING once you're in heaven, and in order for that to happen, you're gonna HAVE to have the mind of God for ANY of it to make sense, let alone retain it for eternity. Not the most solid of footing as a teaching tool, but a potential step in setting future goals for the human race.

I have rarely heard this taught, or at least not directly. I have come accross similar lines eg some women calling them selves a 'goddess.' If you are god, make the sun go down or fly to the nearest star or create a planet. If you can't, you are no god! There is only one God and apart from Him, there is no other. A very selfish and deluded person would actually believe they were a god. Usually people in mental homes believe they are a god.

Do you mean, you are God, or something like you are a god. I personally like to refer to myself as Bruce, the god of chocolate chip cookies. I often go out with Sara, the goddess of bellybutton rings. I refer to my old boss as Jim, the demi-god of stupid things. I know this is a bizarre opinion, but then again, consider how bizarre the topic is.

Nope. Can't claim that. Besides, I thought God was a Republican. UPDATE: No, Beloved, you don't have to be nice and sugar-coated, but for the record, your weblist is remarkably vitriolic and mean-spirited.

Let me add another me too. this is absolutely my least favorite kind of weblist - blatant political posturing, and a thinly veiled way of saying my team is great and your team sucks. If you don't want to have a real discussion, why bother taking the time to set up a WebList?

Both this item and indeed this entire weblist seems to be way too focused on stereotypes of supposedly liberal ideals. Progressivism could refer to any type of ideology. None of the items on this list represent a forward thinking society. Indeed I don't know too many people who would teach such ridiculous values to their kids.
