 | cyclee (18) 04/28/2008 | A more accurate statement would be ``We Americans don`t care what others do although we`re the only ones who do things differently``.

 | oscargamblesfro (76) 04/25/2008 | Ridiculous nonsense than anyone with half a brain should see through...there is no such thing as an average American, but a more or less representative American is probably a middle class housewife in some bland ass, forgettable town in Missouri or Illinois that watches stuff like Dr. Phil or CSI, listens to the Eagles, and has a Sports Utility Vehicle for her 4 soccer playin' kids who look like they should be on a box of Life cereal,... Who the hell wants to be that?

 | FranksWildYears (48) 04/25/2008 | Just as ridiculous as its sister ideologies "Everyone in the world wants to be American" and "Everyone in the World hates America because they want what we have".

 | Molfan (57) 04/25/2008 | That would be a wrong lesson. it is really the opposite. Every country is different. It would be like keeping your kid in this fantasy world to let them believe that.all cultures are the same.it would be sad for a kid to go another country and expect them to be and live like us.

 | TJGypsy2 (7) 10/13/2005 | Only the most pig-ignorant people could possible believe this. I've been to other countries and seen people that accept as normal conditions that would have Americans screaming abuse and failure of the system. Kids need to learn how good we have it here, so that they can appreciate it more.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 03/17/2005 | American kids can't read or perform basic algebraic functions. . .they don't care about education because adults don't care about education. . .and you think they will listen if teachers start telling them about how other people in other parts of the world live? Schools haven't been killed by limp-wristed leftists or idiot bible-thumping zealots- education has been killed by parents who don't instill values. It's not politics, kids, it's you.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 03/17/2005 | One of the most woeful failures of America's (essentially state-run) school system is its lack of willingness to require that our youth be aware of what is truly going on in the rest of the world. How could it possibly be that almost no high school student in America could point out where Darfur (or 5 years ago Iraq or Afghanistan) is on a map, let alone tell you what is happening there? How could it be that the crumbling of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and, much more importantly, the crumbling of the Soviet Union occurred and almost no high school student could even explain what had happened, not to mention understanding the long-term social and geo-political ramifications of it, nor the history of what led up to it. The fact is that the History and Social Studies curricula are so homogenized as to be mind-numbingly boring, and so laden with leftist propaganda as to be devoid of useful content. Teachers in the classsroom should be above the political fray, presenting an even-handed, objective view of history and current events. Instead, our youth are treated to an ideological brainwashing the likes of which propagandists throughout history would be envious. Yet (on the bright side) in spite of this ideological indoctrination, the country's rightward shift continues.

 | Vudija (92) 03/14/2005 | I'd never teach my children this. My children will understand just how fortunate they are, and will learn to appreciate what they have, even if it is little compared to some of their peers. Hopefully my future kids will learn to give back because they understand that THIS, isn't true.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 03/11/2005 | Allthough this is a very stupid and destructive thing to teach your children, I can see why some people may think that. If they have never watched the news, and they see people from different cultures living well off in America, then they can be forgiven for thinking like this. But if anyone has ever watched the news, they would have to be pretty stupid to think this. If any parent taught this, they are lieing to their children and the children will eventually realize this.
