I realize that money and things really do not make a person forever happy. it may be fun to buy stuff you want. but life in general, the people you are with and how you treat each other brings happiness. I include pets in that since they also bring happiness to humans. i would lie if I did not wish we had more money not to make me happy but just enough to not have to worry about paying bills and for food etc.but i do not think that fullfillment equals how big your house or income is. you would be set up for disappointment.

I disagree that the term self-fulfillment is synonomous with money. I have often acheived self fulfillment at very reasonably priced buffets.

Another straw man. Obviously the listmaker didn't consult a real progressive about what they actually believe. Although "consultation" doesnt' seem a likely attribute.....

Personally I lean to the view that joy and happiness are fleeting. To paraphrase Denis Leary, happiness is a cigarette, a cookie or a five second orgasm. You come you eat the cookie and you smoke the butt. End of story.

If you don't have the money, charge it. Isn't that what you are teaching your child? I wonder how joyful and happy your child will be when he/she will lose whatever they have.

A true Progressive would say, "Money doesn't buy happiness."

These are all strawmen. You really should consult progressives about what they believe.

This is totally wrong and that's what the devil wants us to believe. Since the devil is a spirit, he knows spiritual things, so what a better way for a spirit then to make humans not focus on the spiritual world. The devil is trying to get us to focus on the material world, because he knows if we do that, we will never see God and we will never be truly happy. Since we are spirits in a material body, it is spiritaul things which will make us happy eg knowing Jesus personally, being intimate with God, walking in the Spirit. Things like money and popularity are just bonuses.

Self-fufillment should not include the example thats been given. Its about being happy in your job, having confidence in yourself and how you live your life, being happy with your partner or being single etc, etc. That is what I would teach my children.
