 | TeresaG (29) 04/24/2008 | Sure way to get your child further and further into debt. My philosophy (which I had to teach to my fiance), if you can't pay cash for it, you don't NEED it. Charge cards are for emergencies only!

 | lmorovan (12) 04/24/2008 | Of course, it that is what you are doing, teach it to your children. But also be ready to explain why you lost your home, your car has been repossessed, perhaps even teach them to steal, cheat, lie and deceive. YOU should be placed behind bars and declared an enemy to society.

 | ugtr (7) 09/30/2007 | Terrible, terrible thing to teach children. A credit card is a financial tool. Like any other tool, if you misuse it you can find yourself in a world of hurt. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people living above their means on the back of consumer credit. I think that the current default rates illustrate just how flawed this plan is. Children should be taught to get on the right side of the interest equasion by saving their money and only making purchases when they can afford it.

 | Enkidu (37) 02/27/2007 | Credit cards are dangerous to the inexperienced. I know
countless people in over their ears in credit card debt. I think
all colleges should have a freshman required course in personal
financial management.

 | Molfan (57) 03/14/2005 | Oh boy do I wish credit cards could vanish. They have caused so many problems for millions of people. we have been pushed into using them in emergencies, { such as car repairs} we do NOT go on shopping sprees yet we still owe thanks to things breaking down and not wanting to drain our savings acounts. I have a relative who ran up over 35,000 dollars on credit cards in 18 months time.needless to say she had to file bankruptcy.BAd Bad credit cards. I wish we never had to use them.

 | Donovan (129) 03/14/2005 | Hopefully no one is actually teaching his or her children this. Financial debt is a trap that many people fall into. I would rather teach our children that financial freedom and avoiding debt as much as possible is the way to go. We live is a society where people want things and want them now. I think credit cards and charging have a place but in many ways we are better off with out this abused luxury.

 | traderboy (25) 03/13/2005 | Credit is a fine thing when used with a clear head. Going overboard is always the instance that springs to mind when credit is mentioned (nobody cries about a $150.00 bill). Interest is an insidious mistress that is either collared or coddled, and should be discussed ad nausea. Again, credit is a way to purchase time, and its use can help or hurt certain situations.

 | MariusQelDroma (36) 12/11/2004 | This is why our country is how far in debt? Nice going.... A little fiscal responsibility would go a long way, methinks. :)
