The state capital of Texas and, without question, the most liberal city in the Lone Star State. Austin is the home of the University of Texas and located in the Hill Country area of Texas.

If you don't mind having to work 2 jobs to pay the mortgage/rent here it's great.

And if you travel in any direction for more than 5 miles be prepared to enter the vast conservative Vapidville. Your closest somewhat likable city is Denver only 1000 miles to the northwest.

You have to go to Austin to understand why it's one of the best cities in the US. A great mixture of state capitol atmosphere intertwined with the college atmosphere. It's the home of one of the top universities in the country, the University of Texas. It's located in the Texas Hill Country. Rolling hills are located all over the city. One rare aspect for a city on Texas, Austin is quite liberal. My only knock against Austin is that it has grown too large. Traffic congestion is bad, and there is little room to expand the highway system within the city limits.

A good clean city with lots of interesting shops and reastaurants. Home of the University of Texas and has a real college town atmosphere. It can be extremely hot here in the Summer but makes up for it with a short Winter and very pleasant Spring and Fall.
