Who walked around clubhouses wearing a T-shirt reading "Play like an All-Star, party like a rock star, hammer like a porn star"? Yup, it was Giambi. The thought of Giambi as a porn star turns my stomach. Not an authentic All-Star or future Hall of Famer before he started using roids (unlike Bonds). I can never forgive him for leaving the A's.

I don't know if I'd go so far as jerk. Damn fool maybe. Gotta wonder if his health problems don't stem from his steroid use.

Giambi will become the "poster-boy" for post-steroid-use success. He maintained his composure, under a burden most men would have wilted under, and will find a home in the Bronx in the DH slot. Steroid users, both admitted and secretive, will have his example to point to, as in, "See? It can be done. " Baseball is still struggling with how it should handle guys like him, who definitely used steroids. They won't figure it out until they get a commissioner, which won't be anytime soon. But, Giambi has righted the ship, and is not one of the biggest jerks in sports. He's a story of redemption. A guy who succumbed to temptation, sinned, repented and purged himself. Determination and a postitive attitude can take a person a long way.
