I'm Medically Retired from the Army and my husband retired 20yrs SFC, my son is on his 3rd tour in Iraq. The bond those men had and still have is remarkable. In all my yrs around the Army, I never experienced that type of loyalty. Their story made a huge impact on my life.

I think one of 1st/Sgt.Lipton's platoon mates,Ed Tipper, said it best when he was quoted as saying that, "Carwood Lipton was the best N.C.O. in the whole army!"

I grew up in Huntington, WV. I thing he was the best leader he was confident and followed Winters orders so he was a good soldier.

Lipton (next to Winters) was my favorite because he was such a humble, others-oriented leader. He was brave and willing to do whatever for his men. He was a model in leadership and, in Bastogne, kept the men together. He was such an incredible person and I only wish I could have met the real Carwood Lipton!

An excellent leader. He always knew exactly what to do and when he should do it. He probably saved a lot of those men's lives simply by raising morale while they were stuck in Bastogne.

Good example of what a soldier should be. Did his job and didnt comlplain unless it was warrented. Was rewarded with a promotion. Kept the men together and didnt smoke ( unless really stressed).
