    Boxcar serves my twitter needs perfectly for dirt cheap. In fact, it actually saves me money by eliminating my need for an unlimited txt messaging plan from AT&T. Boxcar uses the iPhone's push notification system to deliver any @reply or direct message on twitter directly to your iPhone's screen. This is a big deal for me since most of the folks I formerly device updated were people who'd @reply me relatively frequently and I wanted to keep up with those messages while on the go. Twitter itself doesn't allow you to restrict device updates to just @replies, probably presuming it would be used prolifically for spam, but that's precisely the functionality I desire. Boxcar's interface is simple, and I've only ever launched it once. It drops you into twitter's oAuth page, lets you select your preferred twitter client (unfortunately Tweetdeck's not on the list so I had to defer to choosing Tweetie).
