1st Lt. Lynn 'Buck' Compton was very well interpretated by Mr Neal Macdonough. It was one of the best characters in the series - one that everybody in the audience could relate to. Now, it's a pitty what happened to him after Toye and Guarnere were hit in Bastogne, but I don't think anyoned should or could judge him for that, since one had to be there to really feel what it was to live under those conditions. Overall he was just trying to do his best, being friendly to his men and demanding when needed. He was tough, but I think the feeling of near death came to him after being hit during Market Garden. And the pain of seeing others die or become severely wounded around him hit him hard in Bastogne. I'm glad he was one of the surviving veterans to give his testemony during the begining of some episodes and later in the Documentary. He seemed ok, and his personnal history after the war is one of success - fighting for justice on the courts. He deserves all our respect and care, as all the veterans from the war do.

This man was a good leader. His men loved and respected him. He earned the Silver Star. I don't know that anyone who was in Bastogne didn't suffer from some kind of shell shock. He had seen a lot.

An example that a boss cant be a buddy. You have to be tough (feared) and respected by the men you lead. You cant always be a buddy to them and in this he failed. He also took a backseat at one time for battle fatigue. Suck it up soldier!
