Although I don't suffer from carpal tunnel, my elbow can sometimes get sore when I pull crazy hours at the computer since my job requires me to use the mouse in excess and mostly for fine operations. I got this mouse to try and alleviate that problem somewhat. In that, it's successful. it changes the position of your hand and arm to a more natural one, and lets you use your forearm for movement without stress on your wrist. Unfortunately, coming from a highly programmable 5-button mouse, I have a feeling this non-programmable 3-button mouse isn't going to work out for me long term. Props to firefox for having AMAZING 3rd button integration, but every other program, most noticeably Photoshop, Illustrator and OmniGraffle so far, don't utilize the 3rd mouse button at all, so I've found myself having to adjust my workflow a bit too much for my liking. This mouse aspires to be easy to set up and is completely plug-and-play, but, as a consequence, I can't override the program defaults to ma... Read more

I purchased one for work and after a year or so I had to have one for home. I knit all the time and want to take care of my hands. Make sure you get the right size. I had the large one for a short time and the reach for the thumb was not natural. Otherwise once you get used to clicking the correct side of the button it is smooth and I have very little hand fatigue.

If you've got wrist or hand problems this mouse changes the ergonomics completely. Fortunately my hand and wrist problems got better. I switched the left and right keys on the mouse and changed my position relative to where the mouse was located. I used this mouse a few times and it works. If you need something ergonomically different from the traditional mouse, this is one pretty good choice.

This mouse is great to help with pain issues in the shoulder and wrist. Comfortable and easy to use.

My husband has Parkinson's disease. His tremors make using a normal mouse difficult. This one has worked very well for him. His previous mouse was also one like this model, except it was a roller ball. He used it for 12 years. This optical one is a nice upgrade that he was able to handle.

I love this product. I only have a couple of suggestions for 3M. I have such a hard time with a mouse. I have early CT in my wrist but my job is on the computer. I also have very small hands. I got the smallest one they offered though it is still a bit too big. I also thought it would move like a joy stick instead of a mouse. I wish the base pad were thinner. Those are the only negatives I have to say, It is a wonderful piece of ergodynamics. Using this instead of a regular mouse, reduces my pain tremendously. I will never go back to a regular mouse. I tell all my associates about this. Make sure to buy through Amazon as it is twice as expensive through 3M directly. I love this mouse. I love Amazon.

I actually sent mine back because it was too hard to get used to. Also, I would recommend the wired one as opposed to the wireless one, because you would have to always remember to charge the batteries or replace them. I think the product is good in general, but didn't work for me.

Ergonomically, this mouse functions fine, but on the 2 that I've owned, both handles broke off within 5 months of normal use. What a hassle.

I love my regular 3M wired ergonomic mouse (3M Ergonomic Mouse SMALL/MEDIUM), but because it's a bit of a pain to use a mouse that is tethered to the computer, I bought this wireless version and gave it a whirl. On the positive side, the wireless ergonomic mouse itself is a joy to use -- comfy in the hand, good quality, everything you'd expect from 3M. But the mouse comes with a fatal flaw. The mouse and the computer dongle -- the receiver that plugs into your computer -- just don't communicate very well. Actually, they communicate rather poorly. They keep dropping events, at the rate of several each second. This means that you'll be moving the cursor across the screen, and suddenly the cursor will freeze; or you'll try clicking the mouse button, and nothing will happen. It is truly frustrating to try to use a mouse that works, or doesn't work, essentially at random. I've tried reducing the distance between the mouse and the dongle to just a few inches, but the behavior persists, so I ... Read more

I bought this mouse because i've been having a lot of pain. I work in spreadsheets and am using the mouse all day every day. The product is comfortable but it takes me twice as long to get my work done. Within 2 weeks of owning the product, the buttons started giving out on me. It now takes 3-4 clicks to ACTUALLY click. The lack of a scroll wheel also destroys this product. The scroll "button" is on the joystick itself and its way too easy to click that when you don't want to. POOR POOR design...I expect way more from a company like 3M. I'm extremely disappointed with it. I've thrown it in the garbage and gone back to my regular mouse. My next ergo mouse will not be made by 3M.

This 3M product is GREAT in concept. The handle is comfortable, the movement crisp, and the reality is - it virtually eliminated my wrist pain from using a mouse all day long. The only 2 problems are - 1. there's no "roller" wheel for scrolling up/down on web pages - a virtual necessity in today's web world. 2. the mouse button on top is built too weakly. I only had the product for a few weeks and I was very gentle with my clicking all day. One day the clicking button broke. There is no way to "fix" it as the tiny little plastic tab holding it in was less than .5mm thick! No wonder it broke! This product is worth the money, but they need to redesign the button and include a roller option for the index finger.
