They get a bad rap from some, but if I'm wearing shorts for something other than sports or biking, they're probably jean shorts. They're durable, they have pockets, and they're relatively cheap. My only complaint is that you can't find plain jean shorts long enough if you're tall, so I have to go with the carpenter or cargo jean shorts, when I really just want the plain, relaxed fit ones.
