we try to if we can afford it. the last couple years have been tough for us. even if it is putting a dollar or two in a salvation army kettle we try. this year we do not have much because of unemployment. but we sending out a couple  presents to kids on the forum makeachildsmile. not a lot but we like to do something to remind ourselves to think of others at this time of year. even volunteering is a nice gesture.

Or you could volunteer at a soup kitchen or nursing home. Your time is just as valuable as money.
