I was a little disappointed. It wasn't quite as good as the last two cds. Better luck next time.

Franz Ferdinand continues to have solid songs and a unique sound. This album rocks hard! "No You Girls" is a definite hit -- a sexy sound and smart, witty lyrics. "Ulysses", "What She Came For" , and "Live Alone" are also destined to be radio hits.

That's right, I'll go against the grain of naysayers and say that, at the end of the year, this will still sound amazing and get booty upon booty shaking. When it first came out, I was hesitant to buy. I loved the first album and thought the second was nothing special, but wanted to give them another try. It worked. For about two weeks straight, I listened to nothing but this album. It woke me up in the morning and comforted me when I was drunk and wanted to pretend that I wasn't turning into a raging alcoholic (it was a bit of a rough spell.) It's not radically different from any of their older stuff, that's true, but the synths make it different enough that it's not another "You Could Have...' which I thought was largely a rehash of the brilliant first. I just killed the two dominating points of view with one sentence. Anyway, the difference I see is that this is dance-rock with a British touch while the debut was Brit-pop with a dance-rock touch. I've got to admit that after the first two weeks went by, and I moved onto other things, that I thought it may be a passing fancy--that the hooks would annoy rather than continually fascinate. I recently listened to it again--sober, even--and realized that it was much more than that. I haven't liked an album this much since "Return to Cookie Mountain." I can be hammered, pop either in, and be transferred to a different sonic world. "Twilight Omens" and "Bite Hard" are both still hilarious to me.

A little different from their other albums in terms of sounding more electronic & somewhat disko.

These days it is extremely rare that I find an album I can enjoy from beginning to end. One where none of the tracks sound like "filler". I can say with confidence this is one of those rare albums. With a very original sound that will make you want to move this album has it all. Not only do these guys rock the house, they give you a little sample of dance, funk, disco and blend it in beautifully to create an unforgettable and irresistable product. Not only is this my favorite Franz Ferdinand album, it is one of my favorites that I've ever had. A must for anyone who appreciates good music and wants something different for a change.

"Take Me Out" is so overplayed by now that I can't even remember how I felt about this album when it first came out, other than the fact that "TMO" is not the only good song on it. Better than the Strokes, anyway.

This, even though it was very mainstream and a bit poppy, was a nice relief from what you usually hear on the radio. it brought a bit back from 80's new wave and incorporated new ideas, overall the album is ver smooth and goes together well, with such an immense succes on their first album that half the songs made singles in the UK. Worth a listen.

love Franz. the new albaum seems a little darker than the first. at least the fallen is darker than they normally do. but im not saying its bad. got some great guitar. one of my favorite bands

I absolutely loved this album. The band is so great and not enough people know about them--or they do and don't listen to them--which is extremely upsetting. My favorite tracks have to be Dark of the Matinee and Take Me Out. I think that Take Me Out is one of my favorite songs of all time, everything about it is fantastic, from the lyrics to the melody. I definitely recommend this album.

Sure it's derivative of Gang Of Four but it's fun. Just like rock is meant to be.

Ok if you've never listened to Talking Heads, Gang of 4 and Orange Juice. Sounds very familiar if you have.
