Savage Model 25 Light Varminter 5

This is my latest rifle purchase. I bought it for two reasons. 1) I liked the magazine article on it and thought that it would make a good rifle. Savage centerfire bolt actions are known for their accuracy. Second, I have a NEF single shot in .204 Ruger, that has been disappointing in the accuracy department. There may be something I can do about that, but the new Savage pretty much has me thinking "why bother". I can't find anything about this rifle to complain about. It has a plastic magazine instead of steel, but has not been a second's trouble. The rifle is shooting groups of 3/4" - 1-1/4"at 300 yards. Can't complain about that either.

I thought at first I was having some problems with the rifle, but that turned out to be a problem with the cheap Tasco rings I had the scope mounted in.

To sum it up - I like it. A lot. It is the most accurate centerfire rifle I own.
