Unique, diverse, fascinating...but boring? Not possible. We're talking about a huge and varied expanse of land where you can actually pick the terrain or climate that suits your fancy. When it comes to a road trip - you couldn’t really want for more than this.

Although there are boring parts like Hollister and the Central Valley, California has some of the best scenic drives and spectacular twisties of anyplace in the USA, and - for the most part - a better climate in which to enjoy your driving/riding.

Go north, young man. Go north!

It really depends. The central valley is relatively nondescript, sort of like Texas. But other areas more than make up for the bleak areas. In fact, I consider CA to be one of the most beautiful states in the lower 48. Highway 1 in between Santa Barbara and San Francisco is an incredibly beautiful drive, one of the best in the country. Big Sur in particular is stunning. 101 north of SF is also very nice as is the Napa Valley. The Sierras, Tahoe and Yosemite are all great drives and Death Valley and the deserts have their own stark natural beauty. Southern Cal. is mostly suburb and urban area, like any other part of the country. LA is gridlock and San Diego, although a bit more relaxed, has the same hassles.

I'm personally more partial to Northern Cal., primarily because it has more natural beauty.

California? Boring? You have beautiful nature,redwoods,the pacific coast hwy,rocky cliffs,weird little towns,big urban cities and more hot girls than you could count.I just got back from there.I even love driving through death valley!

Depends on what part of California you're talking about. I've been to several cities and towns, and each had their good qualities and bad qualities.

One part of California I do not recommend is Needles, and especially in the summer time. All I can say is stay hydrated if you choose to travel to this hot bed of coals.
