I bought the PL06 for $149. It's a nice looking fixture, but the light only lasts less than an hour. I've called and sent many e-mails, and they keep telling me it's the winter. I've had it installed since August when I was getting > 12 hours a day of bright sun, and still it lasted one hour at best. Through Sept with 11 hours of light it day, it starts dimming after a half hour. I tested the batteries, they appear to be getting a full charge. They told me it's because it has 20 LED's, the cheap ones I have from Home Depot don't have that many LED's and maybe they're not as bright, but they're bright enough and last 5-6 hours. Unless you live near the equator, don't expect much light out of this fixture. The return policy is very restrictive. Once you install it or have it more than 14 days you can't return it even with a restocking fee. Not sure how you could tell it works without installing it or giving it a few days. I'm very unhappy with it, and will look for a better option.

Ordered and received an FL06 solar light, panel, and several accessories to illuminate a development entrance sign.

First of all, we ordered the most expensive (10 watt) solar panel which, according to their literature, is rated to operate in any climate. The light only lasts approximately five hours and then goes completely dark after a full day's charge.

The real trouble began when we tried to return two unused accessories. Their return procedure is arduous (customer must call and request a return number which is later emailed, customer pays for shipping both ways, and then Solar Illuminations charges a 20% restocking fee). All of this was done and the accessories were returned. We just received the box back again; SI refused the return because the parts were returned in one of the inside cartons and not the original shipping box (which was huge)! The box was received back to us undamaged, completely taped, and in excellent condition . . . so that's the way it was received (and refused) by SI.

When I called to ask why the box was refused, I spoke with the rudest manager ever, named Lee (he wouldn't give his last name or his supervisor's name -- said he didn't have to provide that info to customers). He talked endlessly (didn't listen much) about their policy being to refuse any returns that are shipped in what he called a "gift box." The box I'm looking at is a heavy duty brown shipping carton, not a gift box.

Obviously from an earlier review, I am not the first customer to encounter this problem. There are so many online lighting choices; no one should have to suffer rude incompetence after spending $400 on a mediocre product.

So, we will eat the cost of the unused accessories and the return shipping costs (making the mediocre solar light even more expensive). Be wary of ordering from this site. They blatantly do not accept returns and are not interested in customer satisfaction. Try Energy Bazaar instead; I wish I had.

No complaints with this firm. Super fast shipping. I got my order the very next day. Cannot ask for more.

This is a horrible company. I have had nothing but problems with them from the beginning. They shipped me the wrong parts, then didn't want to refund me because the box it game in was damaged when I opened it up, so it was no longer in resaleable condition. Their customer service has been awful and made me feel like it was my fault they did something wrong. Do not use them, there have got to be better companies ou there.

Good selecton and quick to receive my order. Would have liked to have got free shipping however.

Thanks, by the way the Solar Lanterns are very cool. We had been using a Coleman rechargable to go out to a barn where we have chores which at this time often go on until after dark. These Solar Illuminations lamps are every bit as bright. Amazing for solar power. We like them very much.

Dear SI,

I have been trying to use one of your solar lights but our location is not very dark at night. There is much too much ambient lighting around. I spoke to your support staff the other day (I didn't catch his name, but he had an Australian accent I believe). He gave me some very expert advice, asked me to try it, and then contact you on Thursday with the results. I just got done checking and (as he anticipated) one of our garage lights was interfering with the sensor (causing the light to not come on). I did note that the tiny light sensor is flush with the top of the lamp and it was detecting our nearby electric lights.
Anyway, problem solved and it had nothing to do with your product. For now, I simply covered half the sensor with electrician's tape and it seems to be working fine.
Thanks again for the help today. It is refreshing to call a support line and have a live person answer without having to go thru 7 layers of automated menus and to speak to an educated person with expert advice.

I called Solar Illuminations last week after a client of ours had asked us to supply a very specific solar light for a project. I found this company right away on the web and called them up with some questions. They guided me through their web site right to the exact fixture our client needed. I saved their web site to my favorites and did a little more searching. By the end of the day I hadn't anyone else offering anything close to what I needed so I was ready to order from them. I called them back just as they were closing to confirm availability and they offered me a 10% discount due to the quantity I required. This project had to be completed by the end of the week so I had the order put on overnight shipping. They said it was late in the day but they would try help me out. I feel Solar Illuminations went out of their way, at the end of their day to make sure my order left and got to me the very next day. Needless to say, I was happy and so was my client. High 5 to you all down there in Florida!
