Super Bowl X (1976, Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17) 5

A game that matched two incredible defenses (The Pittsburgh "Steel Curtain" defense and The Cowboys "Doomsday" defense) was perhaps, overshadowed, buy the incredible performance of Steelers 2nd year receiver, Lynn Swann. Swann, named the games MVP, had 4 reception for 161 yards and a TD. 3 of the catches were unbeliveable and absolutely huge in The Steelers victory.

I also remember this game and the coming out party for Steelers LB, Jack Lambert. Lambert had 14 tackles in the game and seemed to be everywhere on the field. However, the thing I remember most was when Steelers K, Roy Gerela missed his 2nd field goal attempt of the game, Cowboys S, Cliff Harris taunted him. Tapping on the helmet and patting him on the behind, as if to say, nice job, you missed HAHA! Lambert ran over to Harris, grabbed him away for the kicker and threw him to the ground. Lambert immediately became one of my favorite players, but more importantly, made name for himself and became the new symbol of Steeler muscle.

This was one of the best Super Bowls ever played. Although the score looks like The Steelers scored 3 TD's, they only scored 2. 2TD's (a missed PAT) 2 field goals and a blocked punt, out of the endzone for a safety accounted for The Steelers scoring.

After Bradshaw hit Swann for a 64 yard TD, with just over 3 minutes to go, to give The Steelers a 21-10 lead, the game looked to be over. However, The Cowboys had shown in the past (NFC Divisional playoff game vs The Vikings) that they could come from behind. The term "Hail Mary" was named for The Cowboy heroics at the end of the game.

The Cowboys received the ball with just over 3:00 to go. QB Roger Staubach took The Cowboys 80 yards in just 5 plays and 1:14. After The Steelers recovered an onside kick, The Cowboys defense stopped them on 4 plays and got the ball back on their own 39 yard line with 1:22 left to go.  Staubach brought The Cowboys to The Steelers 38 yard line, but they'd get no further. Steelers Safety, Glen Edwards intercepted Staubach's desperation pass in the enzone as time expired. A fantastic game!

Super Bowl X (1976, Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17) 4

Another classic 1970s Cowboys-Steelers matchup. Lynn Swann caught a spectacular TD Bomb late in the game and Glenn Edwards sealed the game with a pick deep in their own territory.

Super Bowl X (1976, Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17) 4

In my opinion, the best of the Cowboys-Steelers Super Bowls, with even some ex-Steelers admitting the Cowboys had them in real trouble until the 4th.

Super Bowl X (1976, Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17) 5

I contend that Super Bowl XIII was stolen from Dallas, but this game was almost the other way around. Yes, if Dallas had done a few things differently they could have won, but really Pittsburgh was the better team and Staubach almost changed things in the end. A testiment to how good both teams were.

Super Bowl X (1976, Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17) 5

A great rivalry began here. A very physical game that had some outstanding highlight reel plays. Competitive to the end.

When anyone beats Dallas, it makes for a fine Super Bowl.

Might have been a good game but the result sucked.
