I love defense and therefor, I loved this game. The game had 14 HOF players combined. Although I can't see The Vikings ever have cracked that incredible "Steel Curtain" defense, if the game were played in The Superdome, as it were scheduled, perhaps it wouldn't have been so sloppy. I love these old games. Watching Steeler Safety, Glen Edwards, Level Viking receiver, John Gilliam, in the head to cause Mel Blounts interception, before halftime was incredible. Can't hit like that anymore. This was a knockdown drag out affair. Both defenses were very impressive, but the fact that The Vikings had 5 turnovers and rushed for only 17 yards (A record low at the time, this record would eventually be beaten by the 85 Bears who held The Patriots to only 10 yards rushing in Super Bowl XX) Bottom line, if you like defense it's a great game to watch. If you prefer an offensice showing, you definitely don't want to waste you time watching this.

A defensive skirmish that featured a safety. Not a very entertaining game. Supposedly, the MVP of the game was the Steelers equipment manager, who ordered special shoes that enabled the Steelers to have better footing on the rain slickened Astroturf of Tulane Stadium.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Steelers only won by 10, because they BADLY outplayed the Vikings and should've won by at least 20. Then again, at this stage they were the 70's equivalent of the 2000 Ravens, with a passing attack that was actually pretty bad. But still...

Nearly a shut out. Great game.

Kudos to the Steel Curtain's defensive performance, but this game does not belong in the top ten.

No one could've stopped the Iron Curtain at this time.
