Anybody who plays electric guitar or loves rock n roll had to hang their head for this innovator.

It's not like he didn't have a long and wonderful life. I often wonder what he thought of the uses his solid body guitars and multi-track pioneering were put to.

An curious mind and a cutting edge technician whose inventions ushered in the age of amplified electric music via electric guitars and multi-track recording techniques. I suspect that he gets credit for a lot more than he actually contributed, none-the-less he always seemed an affable, gentle soul and nice guy. Ego never seemed to be the source of his fame. His records were middle-of-the-road pop/jazz, forgettable save for the fact that Paul was famous for other reasons. But again, he seemed like he was just making music because it interested him and he enjoyed it. According to most of the biographies printed today, he was still sitting in on regular gigs at a small club on a regular basis. Music lost a pioneer, but will carry on without him.

I knew Les Paul was a famous guitar maker, but I'm not going to pretend I know much about music or those who make it. Its great that he was able to live a long life, and that he is able to move on having gifts to the world both tangible and intangible.

Les Paul's inventions have impacted everyone on the planet, or at least everyone who listens to music. With his creation of the solid-body guitar, he made the sound of rock and roll possible, and his innovations in the world of recording including tape delay and multi-track recording have had a profound effect on the entire industry. He was a true pioneer with an absolute love for his craft.
