IMO a much inferior release to the very underrated Making Movies. Walk of Life and Money for Nothing now sound like dated and cheesy 80s MTV fodder. These are 2 tunes that make me want to rip out my car radio when they come on air and hurl it into the path of a passing Pantechnicon. The rest of the album ranges between passable and banal.

I love Mark Knopfler, I love the songs "Money For Nothing" and "Walk of Life." I will never forget the first time I saw the music video for "Money for Nothing."

"Money for Nothing" was released as a single in the summer of 1985 and kind of became a signature song for us going into my senior year of high school. I much preferred the extended version on the album to the one played on the radio. "Walk of Life" and the song "Brothers in Arms" were also great. It stands out in my mind because of the important time in my life that it came out.

Well, for all the dimwits out there who are addicted to the recently fashionable "The 80's sucked" drug, this album blows that brain dead attitude apart. As many have attested to, Mark Knopfler is a fantastic guitarist, and the songs on this album are very, very good. The title track ,"Brothers in Arms", alone is a masterpiece that most musicians (especially the musically and mentally challenged bands of today) could only dream of creating.

I don't think it has stood up as well as their first two blusier-folkier albums or even their straight out rock record Making Movies. It was driven to such heights based on a couple of monster hits and one groundbreaking video. I haven't listened to this album in years, but I'll put on Communique every now and then.

A great sounding CD. One of the first to be recorded fully digital, I think. Knopfler's guitar is moving, at times. To have the great Chet Atkins cover a song off this record speaks volumes.

90% of the album is beautiful. One of the greatest of the '80s. The two songs I can live without are One World and (surprise!) Money for Nothing. But Walk of Life through The Man is Too Strong--brilliant.

Was never really a big fan. I guess it was Mark Knopfler's I-just-got-out-of-bed-after-drinking-NyQuil-all-night-long voice that I couldn't get attached to. The backing music was great, though. I like "So Far Away".
