 | GenghisTheHun (168) 05/25/2006 | This game is dying out but fun in its time. It is based on rummy. In the old days, before televison, people would have card parties and canasta was often the game.
This is really a piece of Americana from the 1940's and 1950's!

I think it was similar to mille bornes because you needed a pre-required score before you put down any cards. That's all I remember, besides it being a good fun game. My kids want to learn it, but I have yet to find instructions for this game.

Although sometimes it can get a little boring.

 | charliethetuna (1) 02/13/2002 | Canasta's a fun game - about 50% luck and 50% skill. If you're not getting the right cards, your S O L. But, when the deuces and jokers start falling into your hand, watch out. If you're looking for semi-mindless fun with a few decks of cards on a night when 4 people have nothing better to do, then ...
