Godric added to the unique take on vampires that the show offers. Unique, but weak. He was "older than Jesus" and felt that Vampires should be evolving beyond the blood-sucking, murderous, predators that they have always been. He's run out of 'unhappy juice' and advices his flock to start thinking about new careers. His 'suicide' was lame. Godric got off way too easy, in my opinion. After centuries of slaughter and self-absorbed evil, you'd think that they might have brought in Clive Barker show them how it's done. Something like this: (Rated MGS, for Mildly Graphic Shit)

I prefer to think of Godric as evolved rather than wussy (;P), despite his exit from the True Blood world which was reminiscent of a sparkly Disney movie intro. Most representations of vampires never explore what might actually transgress as a vampire lives and witnesses thousands of years...True Blood does this with Godric and the result is pretty fascinating. His story added a new dimension to an otherwise tired depiction of vampires as wholly self-interested and bloodthirsty as a race...and I think that made the series as a whole infinitely more interesting this season.

A hobbit vampire! Godric was a cool, if slightly wussy character. What's the point of being a vampire if you don't like drinking human blood? That being said, the Godric episodes were some of the best True Blood episodes to date.
