This used to be Punk Rock Central,and last time I was there it still had plenty of funky charm.That was awhile ago,though-probably in the 90s.

My favorite part of the city. where i try and spend most of my time. St. Mark's is great for the Grassroots tavern, alone. Plus you've got the little wannabe punk kids to laugh at. I love Astor Wines, where i buy all of my booze. A lot of good bookstores in the East Village, incuding St Mark's books and Shakespeare and Co. I'll miss this part of the city.

If you want to see the crazy and strange, this is the place to be.St. Marks Place is the main and happening drag in the East Village. You'll find a lot of NYU students hanging out with the punk rockers. This neighborhood never sleeps and boasts some of the best tattoo parlors in the city
